Hey All! Well, I've had a couple of 69 convertibles for a while (and a new 69 stage 1 hard top that'll be my new project), my favorite is a sweet 69 custom w/ 350 2bbl, all original and 95K on the od. Well, I work with a guy who has a nice '02 325 and he's always saying "it's so fast", "a pure driving machine" , bla bla bla. He's always bragging about it. Anyways, my wife and I decided to go out to dinner with him and his wife after work last Friday. Now, Fridays are often referred to as "Classic car Fridays" by those who work with me as they always know I'll be driving one of my old buicks. SO my friend knows this and says during dinner "maybe you can come back to our place for a drink or two, and we can test that old jalopy you drove tonight, he, he , he". I just grin and say that we'd love to come over and see his place for a drink. We leave the parking lot, and low and behold, a red light (with about 1340 ft until the next one :Brow: ). Now, I've got my top down, my arm around my wife (she likes to put the arm rest down and sit right next to me when we go out for a spin), the am radio playing some easy jazz....... and he looks at me with this HUGE grin. Message delivered, message received. Light turns green and we both nail it. My car lays about 30 feet of rubber :3gears: from a tired 350 2 bbl, stock everything, peg leg and bf 275-60-15, his car doesn't make a sound. He can't get by me.......... HAHAHA.......he can't get by my big 'ole jalopy and he's got his foot to the boards of his "ultimate driving machine". Now, I never expected to do anything other than watch him sail by and then listen to him brag about how great a car he has, but he couldn't even get a foot ahead of me. Actually, I sarted off behind him because of spinning for 30 feet and then caught up to him!! Well, by this point, I just start laughing my A** off. I'm screaming with histerical laughter! And he can hear every laugh as I've got my top down and he's got his windows open. Long story short, we get to his house and he says "wow, that thing really moves, it's really nice" we do the open the hood thing, and he looks at the air cleaner and says "oh, thats why..... 350-2, thats why this thing is so fast". I respond with a little grin " yeah, not bad for the weakest v8 they built that year. It's only a little 2 barrel, granny grocery getter." His face dropped, he looked green when he realized that he just got shown up by and old jalopy. I told him that this week I'll have my other buick (the one with the 455) with another grin, and then I say "but that ones even less of a match for your "ultimate driving machine"........ HAHAHAHA :laugh:

That was sweet you beat him with a 2bbl. When you show him the 455 remove the air cover and put one that says 2bbl make him think you beat him with another 2bbl carb.
Good for you!!! That reminds me of the day a buddy and me went out in his 180,000 mile 72 GS 350 with one dead cylinder. We lined up with another friends 86 BMW and a new Cad Seville STS, back when the Northstar was a brand new engine. We wasted both of them. It wasn't even a match. Don't know if either knew how to drive, or their cars were that slow. It was fun anyway. That old wore out beater got me into Buicks. I bought that old junker two years ago. It's wasted but its got alot of nice parts on it.
good kill , however the baby small engine beemers aint all that . An 02 325 has only 184hp and if he had an automatic, then its more of a slug. Hell Ive taken out 325's with my integra . a 02 325 weighs about 3500 lbs , my 96 teg with 170 hp weighs about 2800lb. Its not that I know what Im doing , just the laws of physics. Now if you can take down a recent M3 with 333 SAE hp :jd: well then I'd be impressed . managed to get one of those to about 60mph , but that was on my Buell. Then he blew by me like I was standing still . No offense to your bud , lots of BMW drivers buy for the badge not for the car , even though they are real nice cars. Cheers
