YUP the only time I don't notice mine is when on a rooftop near al the large hvac units. I got too close to a m1000 on 4th of July 5 yr ago. Soundd like shattering glass, after 2 yrs it got almost gone then it happened again, 4 the of july. Suscks, recently it got a little better then I rearednded someone Christmas eve and got knocked out by the airbag for a second or too, thankfully no one hurt but shattering glass noise back . For a laugh you can try BEE noise on you tube.

Too many loud concerts up front. Rush, AC DC, Van Halen, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Whitesnake, Great White, INXS, Boston. ZZ Top
Leaving the TV on at night while going to sleep helps me drown out the constant ringing.

Sometime your ear protects itself with a small membrane that can be pealed out and can help some. Obviously ear doc has to confirm. lost about 85% hearing in one ear notice about 15years back but no tinnitus yeto_O

I feel for you guys that have it.
No cure, or a way to stop it completely has got to be frustrating!!
This is a good warning for us that are around loud noises but thank God are still ok.

I have had it for over 30 years, to0 many years in the staging lanes with no ear protection. Occasionally it bugs the hell out of me, most of the time not so much. I see a lot of ads on FB claiming a cure for tiinnitus. It's all BS.

I've had it in both ears for 30 years. All caused by one night I went to a nightclub to hear a band play and stood too close to the loudspeakers without any hearing protection.
One of the biggest regrets of my life and a night I wish I could take back knowing what I know now. I have a high frequency hearing loss of 30% in both ears. I hear what sounds like tea kettles hissing on the stove just before they whistle. 24/7/365 no break. The left ear is louder than the right.
If I go up higher in elevation it gets worse. Taking a shower helps mask it. One of the best things I've ever experienced to mask it is standing near a tree with cicada bugs buzzing-it completely blocked it out.
It's unfortunate that more people don't know that tinnitus is a symptom of hearing loss. Many people think that if you are exposed to loud sounds, it just means you'll be hard of hearing.
It is a much bigger price to pay when you can never experience silence again.

...boy, are above posts familiar. I've had it all my life. Started as a child with bi-lateral ear infections that damaged eardrums/auditory bones. Aggravated it most of my life with work/activity noise. It's always there, but can change sound/volume, usually depending on heart rate/blood pressure, but not alwayso_O. I guess because I've had it all my life, I've adapted to a base level and only noticed it when it changes. Many only get it in old age. For those unable to "get used to it," I recommend some kind of background noise...

Mine sounds just like Cicadas without any fluctuations up or down, just strait tone. Sometimes it’s not there until I notice it , then I can’t get rid of it. But usually it’s 95% of the time on.
Technically it when your hearing is missing a certain frequency and your brain is producing it for you to make up for it. Weird but true.

My bride has maintained for years that I mumble and am going deaf. When she watched TV she would have it at earsplitting volume with the closed captioning on. Hmmm... :D

I couldn’t hear mine until I read the title for this thread….thanks lol

I have a hearing aid that helps mine…. The issue for me is my brain doesn’t receive the same signal from my auditory nerve in my right ear that it used to so it makes up noise to fill that void. This is what the ringing is. Supposively there is therapy that is being used in the UK to unscramble this signal the brain gets … it has worked for some… it really all depends on what the cause is for your specific hearing issue, it can be many things.

Having been at drag strips and shooting since I was 7, I cannot remember a time I didn't have ringing ears. All the concerts, open headers and shooting since hasn't helped.

Then, I went to a Ted Nugent concert last year and the ringing in my ears was even worse for a few days. My wife can't sleep without some sort of noise, be it a fan or white noise. I can sleep with nothing but my own ringing just fine.

It would be interesting if they could regrow the ear hairs to stop it. I'd pay for that out of pocket!

I have tinnitus since my automobile accident and concussion (Which I still have) in 2015. Sometimes, it is joined by my friend, the sound of blood rushing through my neck and head veins. Most annoying and it is loud enough that I have to turn up the TV when it is occurring. Swish Swish Swish :(

Had it for 20 years as well. 30 years of fire truck sirens and chainsaws and no hearing protection. I always have some background music or radio on to muffle the sound. I do have a pillow speaker with some background noise to drown it out a night when I wake up.
I do have a bit of fun at work now. I have a constant 7500 hz tone. I tune it to that on a tinnitus web sight and slowly turn the volume up. The kids I work with start covering their ears. I can get it up to about 75% volume before it over rides my internal tinnitus. I just laugh at them. They have no clue. Then I tell them that is what I hear 24/7 .

I've had it all my life. Fairly bad too. High frequency ringing in both ears and also some fuzziness to it. I thank God thus far that it has not driven me insane as I can easily see how it could if I dwell on it too much. Strangely, the white noise it provides is actually a sleep aid for me. Strange huh?
