Looking for a driver quality batwing steering wheel (black if possible). Doesn't need to be show quality, but don't want to have rebuild half of it from putty either. Thanks
Sorry, I don't have a pic. It's the base wheel that was used from 69 - 72? (I think). The 68 base wheel has the three equal sized spokes like a sport wheel and is solid plastic, the "bat wing" just has two wings and is solid plastic. I think the 68 one is 16" dia but I'm not sure about the bat wing one. Both have the solid metal round horn button.
Yes, I measured mine and they are 16" diameter. I am also trying to find one in Gold and one in brown, both for 70 models.
I have a black one, I have to look at the condition, haven't seen it in a while but i do remember that it had some cracks but the center is nice $100 plus shipping I'll get some pics and post them.
My 72 Stage 1 Suncoupe had this wheel. Mine has a crack in the bottom of the center part where it attaches to the collumn. If you dont find anything let me know. Eastwood makes a kit to repair it .
70GSXFAN That is the exact steering wheel I am looking for mine has a couple of cracks, the same color green. 1972 GS 350
my personal fave steering wheel... my '72 stage car and my '72 special order gs-350 had this very wheel in black... truth be told if I could find this wheel in hunter green I'd happily rip the 3 spoke out of of my GS convert. wish I could help...had about 20 of these wheels [flawless] in black or brown over the years. sadly as with everything they dry up..
Do you still have a brown one or any that could be repaired-restored? I would buy one or two for a reasonable price if it could be repaired and used, let me know, thanks!
Yours can easily be repaired and restored if it only has a couple of cracks and you save your original wheel for your car.
There are places that repair them for you and Eastwood has a kit and I am sure there are other kits out there as well. A buddy of mine has a body shop and he has repaired several with very good results.
sorry , I no longer have any, I dont even look for them [other than hunter green] these days, as the old car parts market along with quality used /nos parts have gone the way of the dinosaur.
