The other day I took my 57 roadmaster out for a drive and stopped by the local auto parts store. When I got back in my car it would not start. I checked my battery connections to see if that may have been the problem. The cables felt really warm I then climbed under the car and felt the starter it was extremely hot. I had my budy try to start the car, I noticed sparks shooting from the starter solenoid. After having it owed home I jacked it up to check out my connections on the solenoid everything looked. I recharged the battery and tried to see if would start after everything is cooled down. Now i just get a click and where the + battery cable hooks to the junction box is smoking when I try to start it. It just won't start.

I recently installed a pertronix ignitor2 and a flame thrower 2 coil and bypassed the ballast ressistor. Could this be the problem? If anybody can help me with this I would really appreciate it.

I can't wait to get back on the road.

Sounds to me like your starter has some problems, it could be drawing too much juice...............a more remote possibility would be a tight engine but if you can turn it with a breaker bar and socket on the harmonic balancer, assume that's OK. If you can turn it over this way, replace the starter. :bglasses:
