    gotbuick What, me worry?

Remove lower portion of seat first by pushing the bottom of the seat. Push from front to back to free the two spring locks on the lower portion. Once free the seat comes out. The upper portion will have two obvious screws that have to come out. Then just push up to free the back and pull her out.

The dash is a little work. The hardest part is locating the nuts on the back of the dash. Once the front screws are removed you have two spring pins which go into the metal part of the dash on both ends. All I can say is don't rush the dash. Something WILL break if you get in a hurry. :)

gonna go out and try it again....

and about the dash? do you think im better off taping everything off really well and shooting it with vinyl paint?

if i were to remove it, it would be two dashes id have to take out then put back on :Dou:

    Seat

You may need help. It took two of us to get my back seat out. I used a small piece of wood to force the "spring" back as Jerry said. Pull back the carpet and take a look, the seat is cliped in two spots. Kind of hurt my pride when i could not get the seat out by myself. But even with two of us we had to strain to release the seat. Good luck

I would still pull it. The experience is good for the novice. To try and tape and mask everything would take longer and not yield as good of results.

the easiest way that anyone can do it with is with a bumper jack. but if you want to re-use the seat i would not recommend it.

this pic is from a 1967 Fisher body manual.
but you will get the idea.

the problem alot of people have is that they push the front edge of the seat too far back and the frame wire gets caught under the rear portion of the retainer. if you push the seat only about 1.75 inches back and then lift up as you let the seat come forward. it will slip right up.

sometimes after i have the seat out, i take my trusty 2 pound sledgehammer and pound the rear hook till it is out of the way, flat on the floor ....then the next time i have to take the seat out it is a piece of cake.....but again ... i dont recommend it.

i say this near tears *j/k* but be VERY careful with that dash. mine wsa perfect untill i had a heater problem and needed to get it all off to chase annoying vacum hoses. i cracked it with the slightest touch. its a tradgedy! :Dou: you might have to take out the glove box. ive heard a lot of people do that beacuse that nut you need to get to is right above it. after that its a few screws and it pops out. good luck, and i hope you have gently hands! ha ha
