Looks great what kind of compression are you going to be running? I would swap out that wixs oil filter for a K&N. # 2003

 

Thx. The wix was a throw on for now. So turned out the machinist said 60 cc chamber in the Stage 2 SE heads. So I'm going with a. 080 head gasket. Should be 10:74 to 1. I am good with that. Looking to drive this '70

Yes. You have a great memory. Thx. I'm trying as hard as I can to make this seriously beautiful 70 convertible to be proper. I won't lie. I was a big Chevy guy in my old times. But I'm seriously in on this Buick power. It's a challenge. But I am in.

 

Just so it's understood. Funny in any way. I picked that engine up. From McBetts this afternoon. Brought it home in a damn Chrysler minivan. Picked it up. (With another 455 bare block ) And put it on the damn engine stand. By ME. And only me. LOL.

 

I turned a few Chevy guys in the Buick guys back in the late 80s with my 70 stage 1

 

Most of them don’t even know what a half inch wrench is. Lol I hope they have high paying jobs so they could pay everybody else to do something for them. Sad !

I actually prefer working by myself the only help you need is taking the hood off and on and they also have a tool for that with an engine hoist

 

It's funny, my Mazda 5 van cargo floor is the exact same height as my engine stand, I put the spindle on the shortblock and I can wrestle right into the stand without having to lift anything, and roll the stand back into the garage.

I also prefer working by myself. A few years ago, I had to redo the ladder bar mounts in my Buick. I was concerned about setting the garage on fire from the welding sparks, so I asked a couple of buddy's over to fire watch. I'm welding and can smell the rag burning, but my beer drinking buddy's had no idea that there was a fire. A lot of help they were!

 

I have always preferred to work by myself, except when installing engines or bumpers. You really need an extra pair of hands for those tasks. Of course, when I say install "bumpers" my wife disappears for some reason.

I’m Uber aware of anything that will ignite when I’m torching something.
This past weekend heating up the control arm nuts on wife’s Tahoe out in the driveway I was watching the dry leaves and pine combs in the driveway being careful to not make sparks.

I may buy a few of these if so. The WIX is losing its reputation due to Chinese manufacturing quality. The K&N also has an anti drain back valve I saw. Again I apologize I don't intend to derail this thread with another oil filter discussion. Please PM me if this starts to run wild.

 

The Wix are still made in North Carolina I did my own test when I change the oil on my stage 1 I filled the Wix filter with oil, plug the center hole with my thumb and turn it upside down and nothing but oil came out all the holes junk. I did that same test with the old P 24 that was on the motor and no oil came out of the holes. What got my attention was when the oil pressure took like 10 seconds for the oil gauge to move.
