I just pulled the valve cover and.......peanut butter. I wouldn't be surprised if I've got a cracked block (I just finished bolting on a new head). I know I've got real low compression in the #2 cylinder. How do I test it-coolant pressure test? Cylinder pressure test? Thanks for any advice.

Anyone got a decent 350 in Northern California?

    :af:

Some garages put a dye in the fluids they want to test to see if they are leaking. Then they look at it with a special black light.

Some machine shops aren't able to pressure test blocks - they can magnaflux them, but that only gets into some areas.

If the peanut butter is JUST in teh valve cover area you are ok. CHecck the dipstick and coolant, if theres peanut butter in there you have a problem.

Condensation will form under the valve covers and that will mix with the oil for the rockers and cause the peanut butter, it is harmless. The way to cure it is to make sure the car is at full operating temperature for a few minutes.

I know of some 350's in SoCal..
