Who here lets the trans do the shifting? Any ET advantage to shifting?

I spent several hours yesterday tweeking my governor to shift automatically. I must be loosing my touch lately, missed a couple shifts. For some reason I find myself looking to hit 4th.:Dou: My th400 hasn't grown a fourth gear yet.

What I did was to drill a 5/8 hole in the heavy outter weights and ground the outside edges of the inner weights until it tappered to just 1/8" left in the center kindof like the aftermarket weights.

Fairly happy so far. Still having touble getting my linkage to realiably engage the kickdown switch. Now I can launch the car and it actually goes thru the gears. Before it was in third instantly. Got it in the low mid 5K range at the shift but below the shift light. I set my shift light at 5800 so I have time to make the shift before 6300. The launch is violent!:TU:

my procharged skylark is fully automatic with a turbo 400 that was built and modded by marc deconti who is on this board. the governor shifts both gears dead on 6000 rpm. best pass to date is a 9.12 at 150 mph.

What a monster! Couldn't imagine shifting that thing. You need both hands in that beast:eek2:
