    Hey Lone Star Guys.
Am thinking about a visit/ maybe move to the Austin- San Marcos area.
    Have lots of questions.
    1. (most important)- Info on the local BUICK Club. How many members?
    2. Car shows & cruize-ins. We show our 67 GS400. Is there a lot of activity?
    3. Economy & housing. Boom or Bust?????
    4. Any suggestions for most livable area?
    5. O.K. to e-mail.
    Thanx, RICK

The local buick club is managed by Phil Green (TXGS on this board), the Austin Area Buicks. We've got 25-30 cars but so far getting everything lined up for a monthly meet or anything like that has been a chore. We're working on that though. There is one weekly car show in particular at a local grocery store that is very good, and puts a couple "pay to get in" shows to shame. The economy doesn't seem to be so great in Austin right now, but I guess that depends on where are you looking to find work. Housing is a little flaky too, but thousands of appartments were built when the economy was booming and I think they are getting rid of them fairly cheap now. My only complaint about austin would be the traffic, other than that it's a really cool place to live. :TU:

    Awesome

I love it here, Rick. It would be great to have another 67 around as well!!!

I feel like (hope) the economy is picking up, but regardless it is an awesome place to live. Best in Texas in my opinion. Traffic can be tough and that is what everyone will tell you, but I have been stuck in traffic in Houston and Dallas as well and it is not much easier. Rush Hour is Rush Hour, ya' know!

Most people tend to live either north or south. Both are great. I live North and love it. Cedar Park, Round Rock, etc are the suburbs in the north.

Feel free to e-mail and ask any questions you may have.

    Jarrod & Chris;
    Thanks for your info.
Was hoping to bring the car to the get together in April but it conflicts with our biggest show out here. Wiff'e is a judge for the show & wouldn't want to miss it.
We might make a fact finding trip in Feb. or early March if work slows down. I specialize in refurbishing houses that are for sale or rent & our market is good.
Jarrod. Will e-mail you soon. Glad to see you have a '67 GS. #1 in my book!!!!!
    Thanks again, RICK
