Friend asked me to reach out to the experts in the Mopar kingdom. I know there's a few here. He's asking if the stripes that terminate on the hood above grill are supposed to continue for those next couple inches below grill under inboard headlights on that thin panel or not. He said in he's seen where they included it on some of original ads but says that some those ads were done a year before the cars were built just for the sake of getting pics.
I'm not an expert, Ken, but I've seen them both ways. Also doing a Google search and checking some Mopar boards suggests the same. Looking at Google images suggests it's a crapshoot. https://www.google.com/search?q=196...WmJTQIHavuDbsQ_AUoAnoECAsQBA&biw=1360&bih=625
I have seen marketing brochures for the '67 GTX that show the stripe continuing below the headlight and some where it was not. I did see a survivor at a Mecum auction several years ago that did have the continued stripe.
Thanks guys - Sorry haven't logged back on for a bit. Diego what say you? Seems like everyone saying to be a crap shoot.
I guess I could have asked him without waiting for a response. I'll shoot him an email with this thread and I'll post what he says. When I first met him, he had a white and red GTX convertible, which is one of my favorite color combos. I know he's restored blue, turquoise, and yellow convertibles. He's also owned a matching set of copper Hemi hardtop and convertible. That color is gorgeous.
Hi . . . here's what my friend said: Have him go to this site and he will see my old 67 Yellow GTX convert that's for sale. I put those stripes on when I owned the car and they are correct in every way that they should be installed. This is how and where they are supposed to go front and rear. https://vmp.ebay.com/ebay/viewAllPhotos.aspx?smid=33975557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/164369163298
