Can any of you comment on the turn around time for Osborne to build your carb?

I shipped my carb to Osborne 10 days ago. My engine shop already has it in their hands today, finished.

    That's friggin crazy fast.

Sorry, I know this isn't politically correct,
How much is a rebuild for a Qjet?

    J.O. thumbs up!!

Hey gang, John has been working on these carbs for a long time, like since 1970 or so, if you need a quality upgrade on your Qjet John is the man, don't be surprised by his turn around time, he does what he says, and proves it with his skills and attention to detail for each carb request, why does he get it back to you so fast? he's GOOD people! nuff said,

    Bruce:grin:

John charges around $200. If the carb is missing pieces, or other things are wrong, the price goes up.

Mine was $292 because it was missing some stuff (choke pulloff comes to the top of my head).

Everything was itemized, so no worries.

His turn-around time for my carb was about 3 days :eek2:

He was GREAT to deal with and I'd recommend him again :TU:

I still haven't totally solved the carb problems on the 70 and 71. :(

Maybe this would be just the trick. I have a handful of QJ's now.
Does John have a website? Or how do I contact him?

John turned my carb around in about 4 days. Did a great job and it cost a little less then $200 to have it rebuilt. My new GSX also had a Osborne carb on it and runs great. He does good work and works hard to match your setup.

That's not all he does, either. He probably still does engines, transmissions and rearends although they cost a lot more to ship.

If John does it, he does it right. Master Craftsman comes to mind. I first met John about '81 and I've never heard a bad word said about him.

OK!!!, so now you know my secret for "Going Fast with Class". John helped me by setting up my Apollo for racing, steering, carburator, transmission, distributer, set the timing, oil pump & pressure settings, supplied me with some custom made roller rockers, and lots of other things too numerious to mention. And he is still trying to teach me to drive. Some things just take longer to learn.

Hi Marv, your sure right about
    John, he's the man!!
He did all the work on "Very Few" and even made the calls
on my dial in's when I was racing. Sam

John is one of those special people that can actually COMMUNICATE with a Buick. If you have ever met him or someone like him, then you know what I mean. I have only met a handfull of racers like him when it comes to tuning and setups.

:jd: I can't buy a rebuillt Q jet for that low a price around here...and I've always had to tune the carb when I get it back.

I'm digging out my 800cfm Q jet and letting JO work it over

one of mine is enroute now

I shipped him my 7040240 for a performance rebuild. I enclosed a letter but might not have included all of my combo specifics he'll need? Anyone know exactly what specifics John needs on your combo to do the carb up right?? Thanks and I'll call him Monday when he returns. I'm excited cause I've heard he is top notch with these Q-Jets! :)

Re: one of mine is enroute now

    Evans -

This is the information that comes to mind -

    Engine - year/bore/compression/cam/heads (porting/valve size)
    Ignition - type/coil/wires/plugs/gap
Manifold type - Intake and Exhaust (porting?)
    Exhaust - diameter/manifold/headers/mufflers
    Transmission type/torque convertor/modifications
    Rear gear

I hope I didn't miss anything, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Just give him any and all specifics about your entire drivetrain and he'll hook you up :TU:

    Thank you Marco,

Looks like I left off 2-3 very important variables for my combo listing. :Dou: Thanks and I'll let him know Monday.

    Performance rebuild cost

I received the final bill for my Q-JET. If you are having a stock rebuild done, $200.00 is about right. However, replacing rods, jets, hanger, etc will push the Px upward.

If this carb lives up to JO's rep, it will still be a bargain!
