Installed a new under hood wiring harness(350 engine-regulator-alt-starter) & I cant seem to find this wire on any schematics I've looked at.It's length is ending up near the bottom of the alternator

    Here it is,blue with a black-white

Do you still use a voltage regulator on the firewall? A plug similar to this fits into the back of the alternator.

That should be the alt plug like Jim said for an external regulated alternator.

    Thanks gents
Yes still have the external regulator, guess I'll have to have a better look at the back of the alternator

That's the schematic I've been following

Well the alternator doesn't have a plug-in so it must have been changed at some point, think I'll get an internal regulated one & do the modification at the regulator

Would any one know the best way to fix the broken ear on the alum.mount,I tried JB weld but it failed to hold

You need to replace the alternator. That braek is terminal with the amount of tension the belt puts on the alternator I would not trust it. The last thing you need is to be scooting down the road and have it fail and lose the radiator and various other underhood parts to a loose fan belt or other parts flying around.

Looks like the lower aluminum bracket is busted.

Harry- this may be an odd question, but do you know the manufacturer of the bolt that is just to the right of the red heater hose clamp? The one with the V insignia.

Jason the bolts are the ones that were already in place. These are not the original GM bolts?

Well, that particular one isnt. I'd bet the rest of them have been replaced also. Its quite common. They usually snap in the cover when you try and remove them.

I restored a vintage go kart a few years ago and those were the OE bolts that were used on it. Just curious who made them. I havent been able to ID them
