    Hello there Guys

My dad bought a new 301 V8 (not too fast) Buick Regal in 1979. Oddly He does not like it much anymore. I need to get in touch whit 1978-1980 parts & owners, as You know the 81-87 has a bit of a re-designed body. Mine has ben wrecked by a car that rolled downhill and hit it. It was hit on the drivers side just in front of the rear wheel well & door. I've ben a AMC guy all my life and I find it hard to believe that some parts I can fine for AMCs, I can't fine for this BIG THREE car! I think AMC clubs are much closer together than big three clubs.

Most of what I see is for Grand Nationals. Nice cars they are but what I'm looking for is 78-80 Regals.
Are there any clubs and web forums for the 78-80 Regal? Also, do You know if reproduction taillights and bumper fillers (part that goes in between bumper & body that always rots apart) are available? If there are reproduction bumper fillers for 81-87 cars, can they be easily rigged to fit a 79 Regal?

    PS.
AMC should have kept that Buick V6 in 74. HA HA
AMC wanted all AMC power in the jeeps and by 72, they were all AMC powered. I think for a time, like in 1970 or 71 AMC had the V6 in the CJ jeeps.

    Any help Much Appreciated Thanks

I think they're called JunkYards... Sadly very little is made of these cars, mostly we scavenge aftermarket Grand national parts.

You have the ditinction of owning the rarest years of the rarest models of the rarest brand.

No clubs? Lets start one. I love the '78-'79 Regals. I had a '78 and I'm working on a '79. Hope to have it at least running and driving by early spring.

Year One lists bumper filler panels for for the '78-'80 Regals in their online catalog, along with a few other items. Not much else though. I know it doesn't help with the quarter panel, but at least there's a few things out there.

    Where are you located?

    Thanks guys
Gbodyparts has rear bumper fillers at a steep $176.00 and Year One has front fillers for 43.95. It's the rear ones I need most. The front ones look ok but I know once I (sanding & painting) & old man time get into the car, they might not look so good!

I like the 81-87 Regals too but You know growing up whit dad's 79 he bought new grows on you.
And this thing about a club, well its not like one is needed real bad and 78-87s are all just about the same. But its good to get people whit just a like cars together, when most of what you see & hear about are GNs or 81-87s when you got a 78-80. So yes I think there should be a club.

as you're an AMC guy, i'll mention a couple of things you might not be aware of.

301 V8 (not too fast) Buick Regal in 1979.

the 301v8 is a Pontiac motor, not a Buick. one of those GM corporate motors deals.

a Buick 350, 455 or v6 could be swapped in without a whole lot of problem.

I find it hard to believe that some parts I can fine for AMCs, I can't fine for this BIG THREE car ... Most of what I see is for Grand Nationals.

most repro parts center around 'performance' cars. late 70's to early 80's is a black hole in the performance car universe.

I think for a time, like in 1970 or 71 AMC had the V6 in the CJ jeeps.

yep, 1966-71, referred to as the 'Dauntless' by the AMC marketing goons. they also used the Buick 350 from 68 to 71.

other Buick engines in trucks include the 322 Nailhead in Chevrolet's in the 50's and the original Buick v8 small block ( 215ci ) and variations in the Land / Range Rovers from 1965-2004.

Try calling this number (800) 627-6004. I just ordered the rear fillers for my 78 coupe from them. $174 including shipping. That is the cheapest that I have found them. They come primed in white.

    Good Luck!
