I was just wondering if disc brakes on a 69-70 Lesabre are rare ? What other years do they fit ? Would they be the same as a 69 Delta 88 or 69 Catalina ?

I don't know specificly how rare they are but I'd say the drum brakes were more common. Yes, any other GM B-body of the same years would have interchangeable brakes.

Brakes will not interchange with other GMs. Calipers, yeah, but spindles, etc. No. Buick only. Disc brakes are rare. Double piston calipers '67-'69 and single piston for '70. '70 is pretty much a one year deal, though,I have seen a '70 Electra with the double piston setup. Might be a mid year change.

My apologies, Thanks for the 411 Ted. I was thinking of the later 70's models.

Are you parting out the 69 lesabre? And if so are you interested in selling the brake setup? thanks Gord.

The 1967-69 have 4 piston calipers. Can somebody tell me if the 1970 rotors are the same as the 1967-69?

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry Gord, actually what I have is a 1969 Delta 88 that I`m parting out, not a Buick. Sorry guys. I just thought I ask thinking maybe they would be the same as a Buick and Pontiac. Afterall, all the A-bodys interchange. So whats so different about the Buicks ?

67-69 Big bodied Buicks used 4 piston calipers. These are fixed to the spindle and do not move, unlike the A body disc brakes where there is only one piston on the inboard side and the outboard side gets pulled in to stop the car. In 1970 the Big bodied Buicks began using single piston calipers.

Can you post a picture of the calipers from the Olds?

The Bendix 4 piston calipers used on the '67-69 Buicks are fixed (only the pistons move) but they aren't fixed to the spindle. They are bolted to the back plates.

The 1967-68 A bodies also had 4 piston calipers (made by Moraine). They were not the same as those used in the 1967-69 full size Buicks.

I don't know much about Oldsmobiles but years ago, I removed 4 piston calipers on a '68 Ninety Eight LS and they were 4 piston calipers too but they didn't look like those on my '67 Riv (I think they were bolted to the spindles).
