My Interior guy intstalling my door panels on original metal backings informed me he could not get the staples back in. They are incredibly hard steel staples. I had a tough time taking them out myself. He was ready to quit and use rivets. NOOOOOOOOOO:rant: I asked him to try and drill the holes oversize. He says he can get them through that way but not bend them over. I had an idea of using a thin metal strip over the fuzzy and crimping them with big channel locks. Anyoen else tried this. I have a feeling this part may be up to me. This is what being picky gets you.
I had Legendary do mine they did use staples. They did charge for it and I sent them the fuzzies. I dont remember how much it was 4 years ago. I would check another upholstry shop. Tony
John, The rivets are very obvious for someone who looks and do not look stock which is very important for my restoration. The guy I have working on them can get them part way and I think I may be able to finish them.. Legendary would be a last resort. Who knows how long that would take...Maybe Christmas? It took a month to get a package tray from them.
Dave: I looked at that problem too while taking my car apart. Was trying to keep everything original like you are. I ended up ordering all new ones from Legendary. I sold my originals to someone here on the board. Ken
I had asked the same question, different Buick, and decided to try rivets, which I don't think can be seen on my car. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?249535-65-Wildcat-Conv-Inside-Quarter-Glass-Sweep John
If they paint them black there are not too noticable. However this is one of the areas we check when judging cars. Duane
Dave, Ya know I knew you would ask about that, and the next question would be "Where did you get the staples?" Call me some night and we will talk about it. Duane
