Looks very original, but man, there sure are some unusual option combinations out there.

Is it me or do the left fender emblems look off?

It's not you, Jason. They're way off. Looks like a 71 fan shroud, too. Might have been in a fender bender back in the day.

Note to self..... if and when I buy a car like this. Take a fellow forum member with and buy beers for them.

Looks like the same interior my Dad's 70 Skylark Custom had?

What amazes me, not only from Buick, but all the makes back then, is the engineering that went into obscure option combinations like this and there are certainly better examples. Of course the OEM's figured this out which is why today there are very few stand alone options.

I wonder if that interior was a mistake made during the ordering. I could imagine a salesman being told 'I don't want that fancy bucket seat interior" or something to that effect and the box for 'deluxe with bench' being left blank. The buyer and salesman may not have even known that interior existed for the GS until that one arrived.

I liked it better when almost all options were stand alone. You could get what you wanted without paying for stuff that you didn't want. Now a days you may have to get a "package" that cost $2-3k just to get a $300 option that you want...

Could have been ordered for stock too and they weren't necessarily car people ordering these things , they're guessing what will sell, although odd that they would have checked off the Stage 1. Certainly could have been a mistake or someone who had studied the literature and went in knowing exactly what they wanted. I always assumed my old GS 350 4-sp. with bench seat, no air, no ps, no pb was a ordered by Buick dealer that was across the street from the Chevy or Dodge/Plymouth dealer & needed something to compete $ wise.

    They're still out there.

From the door sticker it looks like a December 69 built car with all the early stuff under the hood and in the dash.

At least the front half of the car was re-sprayed to get that goofy emblem alignment. Despite the repaint, the factory side bumper strips remain.

    Neat car...

    Alan,

I don't know about the dash VIN, but I zoomed in on the door sticker VIN and it matches your old car!

I did the same thing and thought it was.

If anyone is really interested let me know and I'll tell you all I know about the car.
