I just got mine today, just put 3 coats of really nice transparent candy apple red, looks really good too. The box doesn't say "1966 Riviera GS", just says"1966 Buick Riviera", but it's a GS model. ou: Just got done on a 1969 Chevrolet sYc Yenko Camaro. Now im starting on the riviera, just wondering if anyone else has this model besides me. :Comp:
I also have that kit. I haven't had much time to work on it lately, but will soon (I hope). We'll have to compare pictutes when we both get done :Brow: Dan
Yea I have that kit too. Finished though. The pictures I have of it are really bad though. I'll probably pick up another model at tonights car show.
I have one or two, that model was made after Dennis Manner's '66 RIV GS, and he's only a couple of miles from me with the real thing, in fact our next Buicktown Chapter Meeting is at his house on August 24, so anyone in the Flint area that might want to join the BCA and the BUICKTOWN Chapter, consider this an invite! Email me for info! :beer
Cool, im glad im not the only one that has this model, I was going to paint it a true color for that year of riv as it states in the directions, but I had a full can of new transparent candy apple red and boy does that riv look NICE w/ that color. Thinking about black interior, imho red looks good w/ black interior, but im sort of contemplating between white int. versus the black int. Either one should look good. :bglasses:
I am going to the hobby shop tomorrow to scope out a new model. Dug up some pictures of mine, it doesnt look as bad as it seems.
I have it as well, I started with the lowrider version though. I started it and ended up setting it aside, The motor lived as part of a diorama for a while and was then used in the build of an Electra 225.
Hey, that electra is cool, where did you get that at if you don't mind me asking? Who makes it? BTW, I have an '87 GN too but I did it when I was about 13 and the paint is terrible on it, I need to totally restart the '87 GN.
Alright, it took me a long time to get a digital camera, and it's not the best in the world but it gets the job done I guess.(and I still need to practice w/ it a little too) I took some pics of what I have done with the riviera model. Haven't actually done much w/ it since painting it(haven't had the time really), but I have got the motor completed as well, but I will have to snap some pics of it tommorow if I can find the motor that is ou: The pictures don't do it justice really, but it gives you a good basic over-view of what it looks like:
And lastly....the box looks a little different than the one I posted on the first thread, but the kits are probably pretty similar :TU:
After building every Buick made since the 1/32 scale 55, 56 buicks, the new amt riv. has the BEST 425 Nailhead ever made. I have bought a half dozen of the low riders just for the engine. :Smarty: :Brow: Al
The Electra is an AMT Proshop kit, Don't let the name of the kit fool you. It's the old school moulded chassis that is meant to use steel straight axles and has a very poorly detailed engine which is why I used the Rivvy motor in it. The other prime kit to get Nailheads is the Tommy Ivo four engine car.
