Anybody Ever Hear of Sealing the Countershaft of a Muncie?

My transmission guy said I need to seal the front of the countershaft at the case of my Muncie 20 with silocone. Anyone else ever hear of this/do this? It seems odd to me, what do y'all think of this? Just wondering before I go and do it.

If the shaft has worn and loose in the case, yes it can leak. Not a bad idea to seal it. Those cases were wearing out 20 years ago or more, I'm sure it's had to find a good one now.

Silicone will be a temporary fix but wont last. Gear torque forces the main and counter shafts apart. The counter shaft ends up with an oblong case hole. Permanent (but more expensive fix) is to pull the transmission, and have the hole shrunk, then re-bored. New case may be cheaper.

Don't quote me because It's been some years since I heavily researched the Muncie stuff but I believe there is a repair kit for the holes that have been stretched out. I want to say It's an oversized pin.
In the mean time a good silicon will work for a while as stated, but the nature of the Muncie causes a lot of side loading on the pin.
