...as my username says...this is "for my pops" He isn't real computer literate and is looking for some literature on BBB's. It's a pretty stout 455 in an 87 regal that ran a best of 11.87. He has had some head problems..with the car too!!! and is looking at going aluminum aftermarket...probably T/A's or a good set of eddy's.
Pops was a chevy man in his earlier years, I am a Mopar man and my bro is a Ford guy, so we are all split on our knowledge of the "other guys" ins and outs. We all know engine building and power combo's that work no matter what brand you are running...but....every brand has it's best and worst.
With all of that said...where is some good reading I can get for my father. Any good "how to" books out there? Where are you "Buick" guys buying good parts that aren't gouging pockets? Being a Mopar man...I can appreciate how expensive building a non-Chevy can be!
Thanks for the help...Pops will appreciate it! Maybe now...he can chase me down!

pay extra attention to the tight bearing clearances. you try to build a Buick 'loose' like the Chevy guys like to do and you'll blow it up with less than 5000 miles.

if you're going to have the engine completely apart ask us for the oil passage mods. there's an entire suite of work in the block and the oil pump.

Definitely visit us here for the latest goings-on. The Dove book was great in its day and probably the most comprehensive guide ever put between covers, but some info is a bit outdated, specifically oiling system stuff.
