Any Ford guys with 351 Cleveland? Afriend of mine has an 82 Mustang with a 351 C. Want some pointers or ideas to send him in the right direction. I believe he wants to go 30 over, roller cam, rockers, etc...... Any help would be very much aprectiated .Thanks.
if the 82 is stock its not a cleavland but a windsor motor. 351 came both ways but the cleavland was early years. 69-75 i believe. had one in a gt torino. make sure its a cleavland before starting anything. most of the 82's came with 4 cyl. or 302's.
Yep. Greg, The engine he has did not come with the car, just what he wants to use.:TU: I was told the Cleveland was 70-74. Hey, both of us could be wrong o No: I'm a Buick guy!
Their were other types of clevelands 351 M overheats real easy bad choice. 400m Same as above. Ford tried to use the design in their truck and big car line. they took alot of weight out of the 351 C to do this. Now for a 351 C . For race 4- barrell heads, For strip and street 2-barrel heads work best . Eldebrock makes a intake for this. This is my 2 . A well worked cleveland is as good as it gets in ford.
Tell 'em to sell the Cleveland and take the money and put it towards a 351 Windsor. He'll spend so much in parts for the Cleveland that he could buy 2 built Windsors, and the W won't let him down so much. C's are severely weakened by overboring, and will overheat a lot. For the money he'll be better off with a W. I promise!
by far cleavland is the best motor and will hold up to what you want to do with it but is costly. go for it. go to the aaca site and look for the ford section and ask them what they think on the build. maybe get alot better ideas than what we can give you. they are heavy motors but in that small body car you might have a fun time with it. good luck:TU:
