I'm trying to find Buick folks in the Tampa bay area. Pinellas county would be even better, as I live in Clearwater. I recently bought a 72 GS. The car needs some work, and I am totally new to the world of rebuilding cars. I have a buddy who used to rebuild old cars and has helped me learn a few things, but I am looking for people who are extremely familiar Specifically with Buicks, and Skylarks in particular since that is what I bought. Chevy and ford guys are a dime a dozen, and that's okay. Anyone can find an old guy who knows a lot about a lot of old cars, but they are always a ford, chevy, or mopar aficionado. These guys are all insanely more knowledgeable than I, which is why I go to them for advice. But it's kind of discouraging when their wealth of information doesn't quite match up with the light reading I've done regarding my Buick. I know a lot of this stuff is transferable knowledge, in many cases, concerning cars of the same era, but contradictions are always a shot to ones' confidence. We'll be talking about things and their chevy mindset will take over and it's like they don't realize that there are differences between Chevy and Buick, even though they're both GM. Without trying to ramble on too much, my point is, I'm looking for Buick guys in my area who would be willing to look the car over with me and give me their opinions and advice. Anybody live in the Tampa Bay area? Have any ideas?

Did you buy the red 72 GS with the transplanted 455? I looked at that car. I think he wanted $4900. I regret not buying it when I had the chance.

I second this. I used to live near the Vinoy in downtown StPete. Moved up to Live Oak in 04. Phil, The shop I worked out of was right in that area also. Was 10 yrs ago so probably why I never saw your cars around there.
What?! A 455 GS for $4900?! Well, now I guess I feel pretty dumb for Not having checked out this forum at all Before having bought my car. Or at least the cars for sale section. (Can't find the emoticon with a smiley banging his head on a wall) To make myself feel better, I'm just gonna pretend that that particular car was junkier than mine except for the engine. Ha. I payed $6500 for my 350 GS, and had to go to Tallahassee to get it. It made it back to Clearwater fine, so that was a good sign, but it definitely is going to need Quite a bit of work. Thanks for all the help guys. I knew there had to be more than a few Buick people in the most densely populated county in FL. I found out about a club that meets on the first Monday of every month, so I'm gonna go check that out.
Phil, what are your hours? I would like to come by. I work evenings/nights, so I will try to call you in the morning.
