Check this Satellite out. Has been in storage for 20+ years in Royal Oak, friend is painting it for the son of the guy who's had it for a long time. This car is unbelievably solid, was an old race car. They're still out there.

Cool pictures Dave! It is great to see a car like that Sattelite dug out of the shop after so long. I love that body style, but I don't think I could live with that color. :eek2:
Your Olds is looking good. Ya gotta love a black car with 3 carbs! :TU:
    When will it be done?

Done? Hahahaha. This is the 4th engine, 5th transmission, and 3rd rear end in the car since it last run or driven. I've had this car for 10 years, I haven't driven it yet,(engine was out of it with a broken piston when I got it) and had been sitting in a garage for the previous 10-15 years by the previous owner (after his teenage son blew the motor). Good part about that is it only has 44,000 original miles on it.

Actually, I plan to concentrate on this car next, even at the expense of the Ramrod, which mat sit this summer. Everything's done and paid for, just need to get out in the garage more.

Speaking of being stored for awhile, I found this pics I got 11 years ago from this dude in CA. It's a rare-striped car. Color sucks, but trimmed out like this, including the Jade interior with the stick, makes it one of the neater ones I have seen in awhile.

I really like the 66-67 Satellite (GTX) and Coronet (R/T) bodystyles, but, please, PLEASE, PLEASE, do NOT paint a pre-1970 with a post-1970 High Impact color. That is almost like putting Rallye rims on a pre-1970 Mopar, or Corvette rallye rims on 64-67 Chevelles!! ZOINKS! That gets my goat!

I'd have to agree with Frank on this one. The wrong color looks like an anachronism, but, hey, different strokes for different folks, I guess.

How about Corvette rallye rims on a 40 Chev street rod? My neighbor has one of them. It actually looks great.

This Satellite appears to be originally a dark blue color. Plans are to do it in a medium green color. Just hope they don't get carried away with 20 inch spinners on it. Painter/friend that's doing it actually did a "Pimp my ride" Escort for a local radio station a few years back. He won't show me pics of it. It was in the bay next to my 66 at the shop and I wanted to give my car a tetanus shot when he started on it

I'll take a shot of the Satellite's VIN plate this weekend when I go over to do some more work on mine. Anything else of interest in decoding this car? Only serious modification I saw in the car was a fuel cell in the trunk and the inner lips of the rear wheel openings have been rolled/trimmed for big tires.
