    What's a rough guesstimate---costwise for the parts--ie Zbar,pedals,clutch,
pressure plate, bell housing,et al----got the wide ratio Muncie with new Hurst
    shifter covered, Thanks Pete

    Pete,
I am guessing it is for a big block. As a whole, plan on $2000-$2500 for stock pieces (with consoles, add $500 or so).
Aftermarket...I know they repro the Z bar, and most of the other parts (frame bracket, etc). Shifter would have to be a 'universal' style or an Olds 442 one. Muncies are $500-$2000 alone. Floor hump is NOT reproduced but you could use a 67 Chevelle one or a 68 (?) Olds one. Even pieced together with a Saginaw with repro parts is still $1000.

to hook it up to my 455---the guy with the Muncie was asking what type
out put shaft I wanted--I'm not sure?? Thanks Pete

Use the th-400 style output shaft rather than the th-350 style.

    Thanks

what input shaft do you have.. :Do No: :puzzled:

    10 spline uses a turbo 350 yoke

26 spline uses a turbo 400 yoke :Smarty:

Thanks Mark---I need him to set it up with the 26 spline because I have the
Turbo400--that is what he was asking me and I didnt tell him I had the 400.

Don't think you'll be able to use your driveshaft from the TH-400. I had to have one made when I converted from TH-400 to Muncie. The driveshaft length for the TH-400 is shorter. Also, if you have competition headers, check where the end of the collectors are because the crossmember moves forward with the Muncie. Ended up right at the flange on my collectors and interfered. I had to replace them with shorties. Whatever you plan on spending, expect it to cost more.

It depends on how correct you want to be.

If go go the full as GM made it route, and refinish/rebuild everything, plan on $3,000.

If you go the repro, bare minimum, used parts, figure $1500 or so.

I did my car the 100% GM way, and I was near $3,000.

It is about a 40 hour job.

    You will need:

    Muncie transmission
Shifter mechanism and linkage (including reverse linkage)
    Shift handle/ball
    Bellhousing
    Flywheel
    Clutch disc
    Pressure Plate
    Throw out bearing
    Clutch fork
    Z bar
    Pedals
    Push rods (upper and lower)
Frame/engine ball studs with bushings etc.
    Frame mount
    Boots (bellhousing/firewall,floor)
    Console (if needed)
    New speedo cable
    Reverse light switch
    Neutral safety switch
    Transmission mount
    New driveshaft
    Bolts (bellhousing/trans/trans mount)

Add to that list carpet if your automatic was floor shifted. If column shifted, then replace the column (?) and speedometer to eliminate the window with the shift positions.

Also, try to find an original frame mount for the z-bar, if you can. I bought one of those aftermarket brackets and it wasn't close. If you do a search for it on here, you may come across pictures I took to illustrate what I mean.
