    Greetings all....

First post here in the kill section..actually first time I really tried my baby(1974 Buick Century 2 door) in some form of competition... :Brow:

Pretty nice night here in Atlanta on Saturday, so I decided to take a little cruise...oh wait...need some gas. Pull into Quik-Trip for some premium...that is when I noticed a 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS on 24 inch rims. Now I am not sure if any of you are familiar with the current "custom painting trend", but the thing now is to paint your car with some type of theme. M&M's, Lay's potato chips, NFL teams..whatever.

This monte was nice as far as paint is concerned...and had the flowmaster mufflers to prove it  My car has a different color hood, damaged header panel, rolling on massive 14 inch wheels. Just then, a 1972 Buick Electra 4 door pulls in, once again custom Maroon paint, 24 inch spinner wheels...I see them looking at my car as if to say...what the hell is that???? :af:

Just after that....beautiful candy red Chevelle..once again sitting on 22 inch rims pulls in with those high horsepower flowmasters....sounds mean..almost intimidating..... I figured that I had enough of the staring from my lack of paint and huge rollers so I pull off and hit the highway..... :3gears: I didn't know that the Chevelle was behind me...

Driving along, he pulls along side me as if to say I should surrender now and drive on the shoulder or something....I must admit I was entranced by his paint job, almost looked like glass. But just as I was going to give him the thumbs up for paint :TU: ...he hit it..... My face went  :)  :af:

After I heard him hit the gas....I grabbed nothing but floorboard..I felt the 80's 2004r Caddy trans downshift into third gear...within seconds I was at his door......my rear bumper at his front bumper...after that....we were in different area codes...wasn't even close :boring: After the beatdown, he changed lanes and stayed behind me....I guess that he ran out of floorboard  Just goes to show that I made the right decision...engine over paint...and put "go over show".... :pp

    My car:

Love it! :beer Those 3:08 gears just love being hammered at around 70.

I tell you...with the overdrive tranny, I am cruising at 75 with the tach at about 2200 rpms...I am thinking about some 3.55 gears because I am going to do a T5 swap. Having so much fun now that I think that won't get done until the winter!!

    Good kill.
I have mixed feelings about those type of guys buying up the old Buicks. On the one hand they are saving them sheetmetal wise. On the other, they usually don't keep the Buick engine in them and totally change the interior to where it's 100% custom which does nothing for our aftermarket. Someone should also tell those rocket scientists that SUV sized wheels belong on SUVs! Some people have more money than self esteem or brains.

I'm just north of downtown off Northside drive. Your engine combo sounds a lot like mine. We'll have to line em up someday when mine gets done. :Brow:

I'd really like to make it to the last Year One cruise in Oct and it would be great to make the Muscle car shootout in Reynolds in November. Let me know if you're interested.

    EEE Straight out of lo-cash!

I guess his gear ratio is way off with those big wheels, dumb of him to try something like that.

Hey now that wouldn't be a bad idea!!! :Brow: I am sure I am not going to win any trophies for my paintjob, but getting there would be just as fun!! :3gears:
