Is there any difference between the 70, 71 and 72 Skylark AM/FM radios? Are the radio bezels the same between the three years too?

Actually 68-72 3-4000 series AM FM radios all are the same part # 981584 but 68-9 will have the word Buick spelled on the push buttons while 70-2 are plain buttons.

In 72 (late year production, I believe) you could get AM/FM with the FM being stereo. Rare item.

I was thinking the stereo that year was a Boat Buick ( 5-9000) series item which was a different radio.

There was a stereo available for 72 Skylark/GS. Rare...but available. Has a light indicator for stereo.

There is a radio restoration site that has a picture of one....course can not locate at the moment.

Someone just sold a true a-body stereo unit recently in the "for sale " forum. That was only the second one I've ever seen.........

So the seller of this AM/FM Radio said the only part number he sees is on a tag with the radio and is it #7313534. Is this correct? Or not? The radio looks to be the one you guys are talking about, but the part # differs.

That may be the Delco number. Roberta has a Delco book as I recall.

The reason you guys haven't seen any of those late 72 A body am/fm stereos is because I have them all! I have 6 of them, and they are all taking up residence in my 6 cars!! ( Of course, it took me 25 years to find them one by one....... ) :Dou: :Dou:
