Well now some of that seems to look familiar :beer . Glad to see another one getting worked on like mine. Keep up the good work and there will be several small motors scarin' the hell outa BBB's soon enough :Brow: :Brow: :Brow:
thanks a ton for those pictures Boost..... good to know that a relatively cheap and obtainable serpentine belt setup can be whipped up for the 350's... r you gunna run some RJC pulleys on that?.... free up some HP and make it look purdy?.... NOW, does that still fit under a stock 68-72 skylark hood? :Brow: i'll put in another vote towards raised valve cover rails to accomodate roller rockers with the stock valve covers... anything to make these APPEAR as stock as possible the better... does manley make severe duty valves for the buick 350?.... another suggestion would be to somehow (dont ask me how) make the heads to accept readily availabe valves... ones that are used frequently by enthusaists for other popular applications, therefore the cost for those could be reduced signifigantly... not to mention some of the specialized "high performance" valves readily available to the "other" brands
Mockup That is what I am aiming toward. Not exactly simple or inexpensive. There is the EFI intake, DFI (leaning towards Accel gen 7?), fabricating the headers to turbo in and out (that 350 sure is wide), getting an electric fuel pump in the tank etc. etc. I have 2 aluminum intakes at the machine shop now to come up with one good 350 EFI intake. Without the valve covers and intake the pictures are a little deceiving and the setup looks taller than it really is. It all should fit under the hood. As for this belt system, the special GN accessory bracket is getting harder to come by. It is '86 and '87 3.8 turbo specific and expect to pay about $100.00 for one. Add another $100.00 for the other brackets and pulleys. I have eyeballed another serp belt system that should work and be much cheaper, but have to mock it up to confirm. :TU:
ttt Anything? I was beat yesterday by a lexus IS 350. Something needs to be done to my car soon. If there's one type of person that absolutely must be smoked on the street it's a yuppy in an expensive import.
Fastest 300 Hello Sean, I have a project that I am working on that is in need of an engine. I have two engines in mind for it. One is a V6 and the other is a 300 sbb. Would you help me with what you did to make your 300V8 run? FYI, the project is to put an engine in a TR7. I wanted more than a 215V8 in it. I have read where it is possible to bore and stroke the 215, but, why not put a 300V8 together with alum heads and intake and later parts. I have listed my E-mail for you to reply. Regards, Rich rcrothers@dol.net
fast 300 Hi, Rich what ya wanna know??there is alot of info about my build at BUICKS.NET lots of trial and error and a little luck. the only exotic piece on/in the motor is the adapted huffaker intake. self ported alum. heads with stock size valves, custom ground ISKY solid lifter cam , BADGER 11:1 pistons notched with tools i made myself there .005 in the hole steel shim head gaskets , stock rods resized with 283 chevy ARP rod bolts the beams aren't even polished and it see's 6000+ every pass :3gears:
Unless aluminum heads are made for the Buick 350...there's really only one big solution that will help you execute a million dollar import, and that's a 455. I know for one if these aluminum heads are going to be produced, I will be in the market for a set of them when rebuilding my 350 when it needs to be rebuilt! :bglasses:
