Hey, I just received my OPG catalog today and while leafing through it I just happened to come across their advertising for sale some TA perf. aluminum 350 heads?? I haven't even seen these things on TA's website yet, anybody know if they are really available, or are they one of those "when we get enough orders" things. o No: OPG Part# S220026 @$995.95
I am bummed that TA is working on Stage 1 Alum heads for the Big Blocks, but we SB guys have nada. Don't bother calling OPGI. They don't have any yet. My guess is that we might have something in about a year or so.
its crazy Why would they list them (even as stage 1's...lol) if they know they don't have them yet. I would think that if TA wanted a "Feeler" for how the market was for these things, they would post something on our board or put something in their catalog. Really wierd, not to mention a big BUMMER. OH well.... back to waiting. o No:
aluminum heads ? I know that Mike and and employee or two from t/a read and post on the bpc group list so i posted that same question to them several months ago. It got no replies from them at all. If it was a typo by opgi it in all probabilities had a similar or same part number as a blg block head offering but the number listed was totally different. That in itself leads me to believe that they had atleast spoken to t/a about the future availability of said product. Printing a full color catalog is not a cheap proposition and thats a 1/4 page they could've used for some other available product. hmm?
David, That's a pretty good point! Nobody 'gives' away a 1/4 page - maybe it WAS to see what kind of interest there is for an al. 350 head.o No: I hope once the current TA projects get completed (al. v6 block, heads - stage 1 al. heads), Mike will finally start in on the 350. There have several good ideas tossed around - al. heads, eaton SC and intake, billet rods, girdle, etc.:TU:
I called an order into OPGI a few months ago. We talked about the heads. The salesman said "I think that we have them in stock!" I answered that if he did, I'd buy them right then. I was serious. It took him a couple of minutes to talk to other people there. They said that they are not available now, but will be sometime "within a year". I personally believe that they just made a mistake in showing them in their catalog. I like they folks at OPGI, but I don't think that Buicks are their specialty. It was just a mistake on their part. Just my $.02
