WP_000778.jpg WP_000779-2.jpg I have searched the forms first couldnt find and explanation clear enough to help , so just made a new thread. this is my alternator.. as you can see there is a plug on the side of it. its obvious what goes into the plug. what i am confused about is how to connect the other wires to my alternator. the clip has a wire with a O-ring coming off of it, and then there is another wire that has a shaped clip thingy on it.. what wires goes where is my question?

Besides the plug, all you should have is the battery wire that goes from the solenoid to the stud on the alt.Better post a pic of the wires,shaped-clip-thingy doesnt translate.:Smarty:

The white wire is being used to exite the regulator,it goes to the battery post on the alternator.Dont know what the half connector is,you need to trace it.Do you have a larger gauge wire coming off the starter solenoid to the alternator? You should.

I believe that the half connector is connected to the solenoid.. the connector coming form the white wire.. would you say that is thick enough or do you think that should be thicker(more metal)

Looks like a wiring setup for an external to internal regulator conversion. The loop goes over the battery post on the back of the alternator and is used to help power the internal regulator. The other wire is for the dummy light but also works to help get the regulator to shut down when the key is off.

Here's a step by step with pics that shows you what you're looking at
