My 71 Skylark 455 Has The Alternator Conversion But I Have A Problem With Alignment. There Is A Lower Mounting Bolt Toward Drivers Side And There Is A Bolt On Top That Fits On Adjustment Bracket. When I Pull Back On Alternator To Tighten Belts The Alternators Top End Turns In Toward Engine Because Of Lack Of Support On Drivers Side Of Alternator. Am I Missing A Bracket Or What?
The hole in the alternator for the long bolt may be drilled to large. jamie told me the remanufacturers did this to make the alternator fit more applications. unbolt the top adjusting bracket and see if you have excessive slop on the lower pivot area.
