Has anyone heard of, or know anything of the reputation of "Allstate Carburetors" in N.Y.?

These guys buy the "core" Holley parts, do all the machining, and assemble the carbs themselves.

I think this is where I will get the new 950 HP, but have never heard of them. After talking with them on the phone, they seemed reasonable, but you never know....

here is the carb if you're curious:

I got a Dominator from them. Very nice piece. Fast shipping. I have not put it on the car yet so I don't know how it works. Very nice to deal with

This is where I got my 950 HP a few months ago. Got a great price & the whole sales process was excellent.

    Allstate's service

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the good recommendations on Allstate.

Just as an FYI, I bought that 950 HP today, and what unbelievable customer service.

The rep was very concerned that he had it set up very close to what I would need as far as power valves, jets, shooters, pump cams went.

He strongly outlined the full tech support for tuning, problems, mishaps or whatever, after the sale.

    ....just a great experience.

Now I hope the darn thing works : )

Anyway, very good experience. Highly recommend.

That's great Bob....I found them excellent to deal with as well. It'll be a while before mine is together so I also have some high hopes that this carb will work a lot better than the old one. BTW, how do you find the new cam? My combo will be very close to yours including the same cam.

    cam

The cam seems like it is going to make a pretty damn agressive street ride. I say "seems" because I've been trying to test/tune/obtain some street diagnostic data vs. the last cam.... all with a 750 and 800 Q-jet sitting atop the motor.

Mean idle, which of course, at 11" of vacuum, doesn't well suit the Q-jet. I have an extensively modified Q-jet that I've been running with Scott Brown's 224/236 for the past few years, and it worked good, but going from 6* degrees of overlap to 19* @ .050 is a big downer for even the most extensively modified Q-jet idle circuits.

Still has TONS of low end, begins to pull hard in 2nd through the mid 3 - 4K rpm range, but when you get into the top end, there just isn't enough Rochester to finish the job.

This 950 HP should, by all accounts, do the trick... or so I hope.
...although I'm going to sorely miss lighting 'em up on the secondaries.

All in all, I think this is the biggest cam you'd want with my gears or stall (3.55/2500.)

When it's happy, I'm going to put a more detailed "how good it all works" post on this particular cam.

    Have a good one.

Hi, I know this is kind of late but I live right down the road from allstate carburators so I knowsome locals who have gone there for work. Everyone seemed happy with them plus I've had some minor stuff done by them and they seem to know what they are talking about.
