In an effort to not hijack another member's thread, I'll post this question here.

Page 6-5.12 of my 1972 Assembly Manual shows:

    Elbow-1239993

The other elbow I have is #1231150.

    Okay, what gives? :Do No:

Hey that is good catch. That large elbow should be 1231150 as its molded right into the part. Wierd. I'll bet someone screwed up on the elbows.

And hey look at the clip from the other thread, item number 10, even gm called it a "special" clip!!LOL

One other wierd thing, if you look at page 6-5.11, check out how they list air cleaner assmblies...they have a REG 6487177 gs air cleaner and HD 6487178 gs air cleaner....and it also says [chrome] on the description for the 455, but where is the 350 GS air cleaner listed??

    Tim,

Don't laugh, I actually tracked down a few of those "special clips" a couple years ago at a dealership and sold a couple on eBay, one which ended up being a board member...

    Here's a scan of pages 6-5.12 & 5.13 from my assembly manual.

Notice on the left hand side of the second picture, the part numbers for the SB & BB air cleaner support brackets, 1386810 and 1386811 respectively.

I guess that would explain why there's a "0" on the SB bracket and a "1" stamped on the BB one.... :Brow:

As for the elbow, the first picture depicts it as the number I mentioned earlier: 1239993

I guess they moved the emissions hsoe from the carb to the air cleaner in 72 as 71 goes to the carb and no elbow..... Also this might be a longshot but years ago I had a salt water fish tank with a High end canister type filter which had lots of different plastic elbow type fittings that may work in a pinch with some kind of rubber grommet. otherwize looks like another repro job for Duane.

I'm still thinking that large elbow p/n is a typo on someones part.

in 71 the hose for the cannister went right to the carb, 72 into the air cleaner, not sure why but that elbow and clip are tough to find. Brett, you didn't happen to keep the p/n of those clips, did you??? I had no luck with GM on those...

    Tim,

The number for the clip is 3977168 or at least that's what it was a couple years ago when I ordered some...

Here's one for you: I just dug up some air cleaner elbows and found one with the number 1239933 not 1239993....

    I'm confused....

    This is interesting....

I snapped a couple shots of the elbows in question. While they both look the same, the one numbered 1239933 (which should be 1239993 according to my assembly manual) appears to have been originally stamped 1231150. :puzzled:

Look at the pics to see what I'm talking about....
