Aftermarket lift kits/wheels For Towing??

    Madcat455 Need..more... AMMO!!!

    Hi all,

Friend of mine has a 2000 Ford F350 with the Turbo Diesel engine. it's the quad cab 4X4.

They went to buy a 5th wheel camper.... Weight is 9600lbs dry, 15000 fully loaded (water, toys in the trunk, etc)... really nice trailer.

After staying overnight up there, taking all the classes, signing the paperwork and actually buying it. They throw all their stuff in it, get ready to hitch it up and drive off... when a tech comes out to do something final with the trailer and then tells them that they can't haul it with that truck??? :Do No:

Said that the Body lift and Aftermarket wheels meant that they couldn't sell it to them (but they did offer to deliver it :puzzled: ).

I looked up the wheels and they can handle 2700-3250lbs apiece (toung weight is 2200lbs)... Ford rates the truck within 16-20000 so that should be fine. It isn't a Dually.

Would a lifted F350 (not that much... maybe 6in. max)be hazardous to tow something like that??? or are they just over reacting?? Wheels and tires are easiely fixable if they won't work... but DE-lifting a truck can be a PIA.

What'cha think, any direction on what to do?? Worries over nothing??

    TIA
