OK, first off, let's see if we can remain civil... Now, is there any new information about an aftermarket Buick big block... from anyone? I haven't heard or seen anything about the Bulldog block lately, and I realize that TA Performance has a ways to go before they're going to be able to offer their version, but are there any updates on either one?
Dan, in VERY recent months, Mike T has posted here that TA is hoping for summer 08 for their aluminum block. Haven't heard anything at all about any movement on the Bulldog deal.
I dont know the quality but I have seen that www.paeenterprises.com offers a 573in Buck aluminum block.
Oops, that will start the non-civil discussion flowing. In my case, Im not going to wait for anyone to build or come out with a block. Im not putting a deposit on anything to hold me a place in line. Im not going to vote if I want one or I dont want one. Once it comes along and is available, I will see if it fits my requirements/performance needs. If it does, I will buy one. I would like one, and I have a car that could handle the potential of one, Im just not going to wait for one to enjoy my car. Plan B will suffice for now. A lot of people lost alot of money on one of these block deals, me currently being one of them, so I cant/wont show the money until Im shown a product. Not a rant, just an opinion..............
This is some reading to keep you busy for a while http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=90900&highlight=bulldog+block Form your own opinion.
CI or alum, it's been a very expensive "joke" for a lot of guys that paid big deposits a few years ago. 2004?? Anyway, no, you can't buy an alum block at this time. TA Perf hopes for a later 2008 release of theirs, I don't know if Bulldog delivered an alum version to anyone, but precious few iron blocks have been delivered to date.
No blocks that I know of. I just got a good chuckle out of what ajjones44 had written. Someday they will come, but not yet.
ya I have been reading up on what been going on with the block since 04' I know of a few ci block out there . the order is kinda funny...ou:
The Mopar group is none too pleased either! I've also wondered if Bulldog is/was involved in the production of the new Flathead V8 Ford block Motor City Flatheads were to introduce.
I think it pretty fair to say that is one dog that will be in the dog-house for a very long time. Apparently about the only group he hasn't sold anything to "in advance" is the Studabaker people.
I did see one aluminum Bulldog block a year ago in a Buick shop. It was being put together for a street car. I only know of 2 Buick blocks from Bulldog, one iron and this aluminum. I hate that this happened to people. Jim N.
Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast you'r very lucky to find a good used Block. Esprcially after Katrina. It took me 2 + Years to find 2 complete Long blocks. Which one was found to be cracked in the lifter valley, The Machinest was able to salvage the other. And allmost all are old back woods salvage yards have closed up,AND THE BIG SALVAGE YARDS ONLY WANT NEW CARS AND crush the rest. The point is, I would think in time new blocks would be available. BUT what would be the price? Especially an aluminum Block. I guess that us die hard Buick fans would not care if the Price was reasonable for the reduced weight and the reasurance of a fresh Block with no Hidden defects. I hate the Idea of having to buy a block off ebay without it passing all the MACHINEST checks. Has anyone here ever built a BBB and had to start over because they found a block to have hidden internal cracks?
When it's all said and done, I would hope that Mr. T. prices them such that he is handsomely rewarded for his time, effort and dedication to seeing this through. As with all high-performance aftermarket Buick parts, not everyone is going to be able to afford them. It's just the way it is.
