    Dear V-8 Buick lovers,

I've been resisting using one of these freebe online photo album services like photobucket and snapfish because . . . . they sure look like dot-com crash wantabees to me. :Dou: However, I'm running out of spots to stash photos and I sure don't want to pay for this sort of cutsy thing.

What's the experience of the V-8 Buick faithful? Is there a web-based photo album service that integrates especially well with V-8 Buick? Any gotchas to watch out for?

I have (silly me :Do No:) tried to actually read the usage agreement of these services and at least some of them seem to be claiming that photos uploaded to their service could become their property :eek2: Am I just misreading the legalize?

I have some nice pictures :kodak: of my trusty wagon that I want to share with you'all :3gears: . . . so learn me now do it!! :Smarty:

    Cheers, Edouard :beer

Your pictures are your pictures. You can make them private so no one else can link them (including photobucket themselves)
I pay $20 a year so I have a lot more space than the free account. I live 3000 miles from home and my family love to see videos of my kids.

I also use Photbucket (I have since 2004 or so).
Your other option for photo storage if you are concerned about privacy or ownership is a large external harddrive, downside to that is you can't access them from anywhere (well you could with some remote access abilities)

    Cant go wrong with Photobucket.
And I agree its worth paying for the extra space.
Because you can then transfer all the images you already have to Photobucket and free up space on your computer. And youll still have TONS of room on Photobucket.

I have zero experience with Snapfish but I havent heard anything bad about it.

There's no "integrating". You simply post the url to where the image is hosted on www.photobucket.com, into your post here, and the pic appears. It's simple, really. It's a copy/paste operation. Photobucket instructions are not difficult, and lots of us use it, so there's plenty of help here if you have issues. I use the free service, works just fine, but if you have TONS of images, you may want the pay service level.

May just "park'em" on my own website (Re: web-based photo album services)

Dear Bill, William, David, and V-8 Buick fans,

Thanks for the comments. I got some other advice from some weather software forums I also frequent. Since I need a website to upload weather data, I have a paid for spot to park photos. I just checked, and I have 10 Gigabytes over there.

So I may just keep using that for now. Since the domain-name is my own. At least I don't have to worry about breaking links sometime in the future. If I start running out of space over there, I'll take another look at PhotoBucket.

    Thanks again! :TU:

    Cheers, Edouard :beer

Hi Mike and V-8 Buick lovers,

If you own your own domain name, you can move your files to another service and retain the same organization. If they do a "fly by night" bellyup you would be in trouble unless you made a backup copy of your service on your own computer. However, if they give you a little warning, you can just move from one company to another and the rest of the Internet will see no difference at all. That's another benefit to having your own domain name - especially for a small business. You can shop around for lower prices or better service and your customers won't notice anything more than the disruption time to change service.

    Cheers, Edouard :beer
