as a Ford Probe / Mazda MX-6 racer, i have a great deal of respect for what Mazda's in street trim can accomplish in the turns. but this is freaking UNREAL. MazdaSpeed 3 eating several Ducati's lunches on the Nurburgring:

i knew these things were giving Subbie WRX's trouble in a straight line ... but killing MOTORCYCLES? holey crap.

this is something even Buick drivers are going to need to be careful off.

and not much room to pass and the cyclists showing little interest in moving over while he's trying to eat their exhaust pipes and lap traffic....

yeah, it's not like it was Troy Bayliss or Ruben Xaus (or was it?) on the Ducati's, but he's not giving up anything ANYWHERE on the track except for immediately off of the corners. he even starts catching them on the straights.

but you go right ahead and race one

they won't beat a race prepped Buick but they'll stay pretty close to a stock one.

A lot the stock imports would run right along with a stage car, some right passed one. Most say a stock stage car is good for mid thirteens with a sticky day at the track, thats basically entry level for alot of the high perf imports. alot of there good stuf doesn't even make it to the states either...

    GM needs to wake up!!

Sorry, not buying the Mazda today. Nothing in that video impressed me. The Mazda runs up on the bikes in the corners and they bury him pulling out in the straights. My guess is they were paid for that show in the corners.
Sorry, born in the Motor City where there ain't no replacement for displacement. I actually own a VW turbo GTI that mamma uses for groceries and going to school. With gas prices what they are you can understand having an alternative. But when it comes to talking trash, the ricers are out with the garbage.
The only place for rice is in the tank of an alcohol car.

In Motown this is our version of "To Be Respected".

    Hi,
the Mazda was fast but you can't say it won against the cyclists.

When there is no offical race that day, everybody can have some rounds at the Nurburgring, even with a stock VW Bug with a trailer behind (of course you have to pay to drive at the track).

You also can see Porsches and Ferraris only going 30mph. I think it's just a kind of status symbol for some people to be there, others are going full risk.
At every open track day there are some injured people and a lot of crashs (Nicki Lauda had a crash on this track during a Formula One race in 1976 and nearly died by flames) and so not all people push it to the floor.

    Greetings
    Phil

A decent sporty-car with decent driver and tires will out-corner all but maybe the best motorcycle and rider. Think about the contact patch and tire sizes involved. Motorcycles look impressive in the corners, but accelerating in the straights is where their primary advantage is over cars; sometimes this translates into better lap-times for the bikes, but it's purely the superior acceleration that does it. Ask any motorcycle racer and I think you'll get the same answer.

Your movie is actually an excellent demonstration of this.
