HE BECKONS!!!! The great white whale made a successful 10 mile spin into town and back. So nice to have an accurate shifter, and a heater with controls! Only question for now is this: when manually shifting from L1 to L2 and on the throttle, it seems as tho the 400turbo wants to stay in L1. Really don't wanna over rev it, plus the streets are salt coated so tire spin may be part of it, BUT, can the funky refitted 400 kick down switch need adjusting (was originally a 350 turbo)? Can a vacuum leak to the modulator cause this (hose may be cracked). Happy New Year to all especially Utica Geoff!! Bill in TR

Rides in the F-104? Damn, my G suit is at the cleaners. Too rich for my blood, although I did cough up 600 bucks for a ride in the CAF's B-29 a few years ago.

No snow here- just the opposite a few days ago. Bear in mind the 56 deg is inside the fridge! View attachment 275781

Out camping, luckily there was a creek nearby, beer on ice & a radio to listen to England loose the cricket match................. Camping as it should be.

End of thread hijack for the moment & a Happy New Year to all.

    Cheers,

    Chris

Bill: Happy New Year to you and Pat as well. I'm really not a tranny guy, but did it shift normally when just put in drive? When was the last time the fluid/filter was changed? Vacuum hose is inexpensive, maybe just change it ti be safe. If you want, I have a used kickdown switch I could mail you to swap out yours. Let me know. UticaGeoff

Putting in drive its perfect, as is a straightforward 1-2-3 shift, but at WOT it holds in low1. Id really like to try that OEM switch mount... The PO, who as he said, excelled at the electrical end of this job (!!) mumbled something about the KD switch as he was laying under the dash getting the heat to work. I don't know if it was about adjustment or the masterpiece he welded with that Sears buzz box welder (yuk). Just another confirmation this was a 350 car to start with. The weird thing being, any buick with a 400T will fit, and Im under the impression that the 350s used the same bracket sans switch. Why the hell did this guy have to make one? (see pic above). Maybe that's a chevelle part also?? Ill change the bracket and the hose to be sure! Is the hose supply at the right location? Thanks man... Bill in TR 2327 9th st. Two rivers, wi. 54241

The modulator tubing is showing across the top of the removed EGR valve...
