Well winter is here and I think it is finally time to get the car running. Its been sitting since 04 with out moving under its own power.

The car I am refuring to is my dad 79 Regal (G-Body daves car)

I put the motor in witch was brand new I think 462 10.5to1 big cam I have to research some more I cant remember what he had done to the motor off hand and trans in the car in 06 and removed it a week later because of a weird knok.I was thinking was a rod do to the fact the more petal you fed it the louder it got under load.. after I removed the motor I inspected the bearings and they all spected out so that wasnt the problem ..After talking to a few motor guys they mentioned that it could have been detonation because of the older gas that was in the tank and the 10.5/1
compression ratio..Also I was running the stock hei and I cant tell you what the timing was set at I cant remember off hand..Any suggestions ,things to look for would be great..Here is a pic of the car

I really need to buckel down and get this car running I have spent way to much time looking at it..

I'll second the torque convertor bolts. It happened to me about 2 months ago. All three could be turned by hand. They made a terrible sound.

    Matt,
It makes me happy to see you are continuing your dad's car legacy. Even though we never personally met, he and I swapped parts and money. I can say I was blessed to have been his friend. Now, I see you are getting his car running and its a great feeling. I know he'd have wanted that.

Put me on the list of folks that were helped out by Dave.

Any help you need to get that car running will be readily available from this group.

...as to the knock, did you look for gouges in the oilpan? The rod bolt clearance is VERY tight and sometimes they will tap the pan. Wipe off the oil and check for the little tell-tale scrapes and some wear on the bolts. A quick dent-up job on the pan usually solves it.
