Howdy, I found a 1972 4dr Olds Cutlass with disc brakes and want swap the spindles, master, caliper, etc into a 1967 Skylark Will this front bolt right up with out mods? Is the olds an A body and what other parts should I look for?
The 72 Cutlass is an a-body, the whole front disc setup will bolt right in. I'm not 100% sure on the master/booster, make sure you get the pedal assembly from the donor car.
Good luck, if you see basically any cutlass, chevelle, lemans/tempest the disc setup will work. I had a '72 Cutlass "S" that got cremed from behind, I wound up selling the car for what I paid for it even after the car was hit. The parts off of that olds can be sold to make up for your investment, so you might wind up getting the disc setup for free and make a few bucks. I'd even buy a couple of items from it to help finish my 71 Skylark project. Just don't pay too much for the car, the 4-doors really aren't worth a lot. If the fenders are good, it's worth about $550-$700, if not then don't go over $300-$400 or so. Good luck!
been there Hey Joe (your name is Joe isn't it?), I did this swap on my '66 'lark. Brakes were from a '71 chevelle. The only problem I had was with the lines and hoses. The '66 banjo brackets on the frame didn't fit the disc brake hoses and the '71 brackets didn't mate up to the frame so I cut, bent and welded the '71 brackets to fit. If you have any problems shoot me an e-mail.
Slomo, Don't forget to get the combo valve and the lines from combo valve to master cylinder. Also, I would remove the 8.5" rear from the 72 and look for the 8.5" posi unit. I have an article covering the swap on the sway below.
Howdy, I went to the auction and with out much supprise the cars were going through the roof. In Las Vegas You have large families of Mexicans that pool money together and bid in groups they run the cars way up in price. Once and a while you get lucky and get one. Thanks for the info guys.
