OK Group, I have noticed in several different "threads" where people have mentioned various problem regarding the model 9375, 1050cfm Dominator Carb. I have one, never seemed to be a problem on my old 462, but the new 470ci is a Race Motor, the 462 was not. I'd like to make the supposed "necessary" changes before I get to go racing, I know this might be backwards, but let's see what come up in this thread. I have also seen a recent post where "foot braking" has a different reaction to/from the Dominator, different from running a trans brake, why? I have my new Mikes' Ultimate th400 w/brake to back up the 470 maybe I don't have to make any changes because I may be launching at
3500 + rpm, and the carb. will be past the point of falling over.
Anyways I thought that this "Thread" would bring all the 9375 Dominator "Issues" to one area.
    Thanks Gary G.

I don't know what problems you mean!? I love mine. We did have to change the air bleeds on the dyno because they were making it run too lean, but that's just maintainence. Easier then changing jets too. As far as bogging or something like that, I wouldn't know, since I launch on the trans-brake with the gas pedal floored and the two-step holding the rpms at 5200. Anybody else got anything to add?

This is one of the areas where I need to educate myself as well.
My 9375 was purchased from a friend about 10 years ago for $300 and has been with me through many changes.
I know there may be a few hundredths to be gained by some fine tuning but it one of those items that has never been a problem.

My jetting was at 91 this past year and the car couldn't have been more consistent.

I have the luxury of being a neighbor of one of the best Dominator guys in the Country.
I was planning on making an appointment w/ him this winter.
He hasa guys in IHRA and NHRA that have/are running his carbs including Greg Anderson.

I took my dominator to him along with Scat, after setting it up on his"mule",a 460 ford,he dialed it in on Scat for me,idled like a Q jet.the guys a genius.in fact thats the carb you borrowed from me that ran so good for you.I lost his # but I'm sure Gary K has it.

His name is Dale Cubic......Don't know his #.
    Never called him,He's that close.
I usually just walk over literally a minute door to door.
I'll get a card from him when I go over next time.

    For Badbuick
Gary in our area you can use Carbshop or I use Fuel Curve West in Upland. If you call me I can give you the number.

I do believe the accelerator pumps are set up differently for a transbrake car over a foot brake car, but I'm not sure. I do know that a stock 9375 had a rich condition off idle which cause some severe "popping" off idle. I my case this was caused by a rich intermediate system. Opening up the intermediate air bleeds will solve this. You may also notice that the idle screws have little effect on idle quality until they are almost closed. This can be remedied also.

As you may know the 9375 is actually for a 2 four barrel set up. Dave Benisek told me the story a few years back. If I'm not mistaken this all started years ago when Jim Bell was testing an engine either on a dyno or in a car. Some one had a "tricked up" carb and I believe Oliver Colteryahn had a brand new 9375 which really wasn't the right carb. Well the 9375 either made more horsepower or went faster and the word got out into Buickland. The rest is history.

    Good luck with it.

9375s are not just popular on Buicks. Alot of brand Xers use them judging from the track and EBAY.
The intermediate circuit richness is not that great on the street but at the track it helps the car 60 ft. I just bring the revs up till I hear sound a little lumpy (about 1800 on my GS) and it leaves great. (if I launch below that it's still on the idle circuit a BOG will ensue)
I've heard of people plugging the intermediate circuit but then the cars needed more jet and squirter to launch.
On the other hand, as stated a high stall converter or a trans brake can cover up alot of ill tuning.....

Half of my reasoning for getting a 9375 was that I'd heard Buicks liked them, the other half is because I've always planned on running two carbs. (And I still plan to)
