Those units have 3 different series. 2.56 is all by itself and it is the 700 casting number Then there is the 761 which is the next step up 2.73 2.93 maybe 3.08 Then there is the last one which should be 3.23 3.42 and up I have one of each. IF someone takes there 3.42 carrier out for a rebuild PLEASE post the casting number as I have still NOT run accross this unit and would like to know that info. Jim OH and there is a 698 casting too which I think is also 2 series 2.56 gear set. YEs the 8.5 clutches and the s-spring fit these units...BUT no one is selling and or supporting the factory 8.5 unit anymore and when you do find new clutches they will be 200.00 for a set. Sold my last set last week...My supplies are out and they do not see a future for them anymore. OH BOY here we go again.... Jim
I thought that the middle series covers 2.73-3.23. And that only the 3.42 uses the high series, which makes it so hard to find. I have used lower series with a spacer though.
