    Close..........

The #7 (1971) and #7A (1972) 350 heads are still pretty good for a small block (especially the 7A since those have hardened exhaust seats. The G (1971) and GA 1972) big block heads are still pretty good, too. Again the G(A 1972 heads have hardened exhaust seats for unleaded gas if that's important. G(A also had large 2.07 intake valves in the 1972 W30 cars.

The rarest and biggest buck heads there are are H heads from the 1971 W30. I've seen them go for upwards of $1000 easy.

Stay away from any J or numbered heads with a large letter A after them. Those are smoggers and, like Andy said, make good doorstops.

J's may be smoggers, but with time and a good die grinder, anything is possible!

    Agreed..........except

If you're paying to have the heads ported, you better not be paying him by the hour. Save 8-10 hours and just start with a good set of A through H. E's and G's still can be found for pretty cheap $$$$$. Not free like J's.

If you really like J's, though, check at the ends of the anchor ropes at fishing places. I think I have a pair holding down the tarp on the firewood pile.
