i just picked up a posi unit out of an 79 z/28. 410408n. Looks good and clean. Clutches and shims all look good. Only question is when I pulled it out there was no s spring in it. Any thoughts? Is this needed? If so would anyone have an extra. It’s going in a budget build car.
The 410408 is a great factory unit. Yes,they originally had a spring,but if the unit is assembled and tuned correctly,it will not need the spring.
You can stick a EATON posi cage spring pack in there too IF you really feel you need one. New S springs are harder to find these days... PM me I can check and see if I have any left...BUT I doubt it. Jim JD Race
