Any 8.5. The posi carriers and gears fit any 8.5 rear as long as the axle spline count is compatible. 1970 was the 8.2, different rear. The 1971 and 72 Buick Olds 8.5 rear used 28 spline axles and were bolt in axles. When I built the 71 8.5 rear for my car, I went with a 30 spline Eaton posi and 30 spline Moser axles. The 8.5 was used all the way into the 90's, but most of the later rears are c clip rears (like the GN's). Still the 8.5 parts will all fit unless the axle splines are different.
