That dude driving is rather nonchalant about it. Almost cringeworthy.

Owning a GNX and only accumulating less than 800 miles in thirty seven years is kinda like having a thoroughbred and only taking it out of the barn to walk around the corral.

Unless it was ¼ mi. @ a time:). Or even ½ considering the return. Certainly not the case here however.

Lots of speculation in the comments that this one will set a $ record.

Sounds like they’re banking on celebrity ownership ! I would let this clown drive my car. I’m sure everybody else feels the same after watching that video. What a moron.

Dealer attitude. Too used to driving rare/expensive cars maybe.

I wonder why this one is expected to set the $$$ record? There are a lot of GNXs out there with lower mileage than this one and several of them have sold on BAT in the last 2 years including cars with 81 miles, 55 miles, 262 miles, 296 miles, 203 miles, 759 miles.

Full list of them: Buick GNX For Sale - BaT Auctions (bringatrailer.com)

So far this one is the highest price for a GNX on Bring A Trailer. It brought more than four others with lower mileage that were on BAT after this car sold two years ago.

Idk. We'll see. So much has to do w/the current market cond. & I'd think that's softened a bit. Also timing/luck & getting a couple ppl who have the same itch @ the same time.

I wonder if any of the usual shelf-wear items have been a problem or corrected - bumper fillers, headliner sag, etc. I noticed the Powermaster could use a new accumulator and the driver's visor looks like it's starting to come undone. Looks like R12 still and someone has flushed the coolant, hopefully many times.

There’s reportedly one here in Arizona with only delivery mileage on it.

Beautiful car! Would love to own it! Still, it’s a lot of freaking money for 270hp.

$40k in 1987 (I think that’s what they were selling for?) would be over $1,000,000 today if it was put in an SP500 index fund (no brainer) investment account, so it’s not like it was necessarily a great investment.

Tom, I bought my 87 GN new from Vincent Buick in Fairport. At that time, going from 18k to 30k for a GNX wasn't even a thought. You could easily make a GN as fast as a GNX for less than $1k. Even though the collectability aspect was eventually going to be there, that was a lot of coin for most of us with modest means. I knew an engineer at RPD had an interest in a GNX, but even he couldn't justify it. I'm not even sure if any were sold in the Rochester area. There were certainly more GN's available in Rochester than here in Syracuse (Vincent had 20-25 on the lot when I bought mine), but who knows about GNX's? One thing is for sure, if you were a well-heeled Buick guy, you could have (should have!) bought TWO, one as a garage queen and the other you could beat like a rented mule.

I priced an '87 GN when I was 19 y/o & w/zero options & not knowing anything about negotiating a new car purchase it was $16k. I just couldn't take on the payment & wasn't sure I could keep it inside.

Agree regarding buying multiple. I thought 3. One to preserve, one to drive, and one to race. But 2 would've worked too!

I haven’t seen a GNX cruising around this area. Maybe the Dorschel GNX 051 is stashed away somewhere?
A local Buick dealer I frequented back in the day (Lou Holtz Buick in Webster NY) also had 15 to 20 GN’s lined up in his back lot. They were all $15k+ at the time. I couldn’t swing a new one either back then. I do have a black 87 WE4 that I bought with low miles in 1991. I get my “turbo rush” with it when needed
Kept the exhaust quiet too, so I can hear the turbo spooling up … when we take it out most people think it’s a GN. Close enough for me.

My GNX story... Friends family all worked at GM in Framingham. Father, brothers, sister... His mother owned a BEAUTIFUL 87 GN with astro roof, digital dash.. Anyway, his older brother Alan was into older cars- had a 70 Chevelle SS, few other cars. Was at his fathers house and there was a GN in the driveway, plastic on the seats, black rims, white X on the trunk lid... Asked him about it "oh, that's a special one". He bought it with his GM discount, and flipped it. Few weeks later, there was another one in the driveway.... Flipped that one, too.
If there WAS a way to track who initially purchased them, his last name was Dubeau....
