I'm going to redo the seats in the convert and am wondering if anyone has any ideas if I can get new upholstery kits (like all you guys with Skylarks / GS's can get). I can go to a local upholstery shop and have it custom made for about $1000. Suggestions?

Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge,no one makes any interior kits for the big cars. I am in the same boat as you having priced an ulpholstery shop for a custom made interior.

If it is "custom made" at an upholstery shop, do they make it look exactly like it did out of the factory?

That's what they tell me....Ron Fryer in Washington State said he could do a set of new covers for about $600 in vinyl and about $800 in leather (quoted last fall) but needs the current covers to "make a pattern" and would be several months before he got the made and returned. That's always a possibility.....I'll have to have him requote me. I'm going to look into a woman at church who does furniture upholstery, see if she wants a winter project

Ron Fryer did my Riviera covers a couple years back. Had them back in few weeks and cost about $800 for front and rear duplicates of the original in pearl white vinyl. Excellent work!
