Lennard, great metal work!!This all will pay off when you Mash the petle of that Big Block:blast: :blast: Again, nice job:TU:
Hey Lennard, Once you talked about one of the biggest classic american car junk yard in europe. Can you tell us where is it? I did the same job on a 74 century and some parts are missing on it. Junk yard Address in europe for classic american car are usefull. Greetings Remy 1974 Buick Century
Hey remy that looks great what has it got under the hood ? That junkyard is this one http://www.bildelarosby.se/ The middle one has the onder types of cars laying around By the way they only had one 73 regal and a 76 4 door if i remeber correctly but they had a lot of other 73/77 abody laying around ) olds 442 pontiac lemans that kind of stuff But what are you looking for ? Greetz Lennard
Hello, Thank you for the junk yard. It's a little bit far but interesting. I don't know how the green 73 century is on the front side... It's a 350ci engine inside. The car is coming from belgium (general motors continental antwerpen) and came in France in 1983. Then the car spent 10 years in a junk yard and since 1993 the car is mine. It was red and I find the blue color underneath, so I repainted it using its original color. I'm looking for the two head lamps with chrome bezel and tail lights (right and left), they are melted, and the plastic parts around are broken. The rear bumper had been cuted, I will weld it and rechrome otherwise if I can find one... the job is easier. Do you have any pictures of your century now? You did a very good job. Greetings Remy 1974 Buick Century
i'm stil busy with my century it is in the same shape as it was in the last pictures I haven't got time to work on it right now since i've been in a chrash with my daiy driver For those parts try looking on ebaymotors.com in america shipping wil be exspesive for the bumpers though by the way those plastic parts under your taillight are called bumper fillers :TU: Good luck with it :TU: Greetz Lennard
I didnt do as good a job as Lennard, but its now a driver. I should have scrapped it really as it was real bad. I imported front and rear bumpers, a pair of doors and countless other bits. Not much of the original car is left now. I live in England or rip of Britain as its more commonly known, ie: taxed to the hilt, petrol nearly 5 per gallon:af: cannot load pics until I done 10 posts:laugh:
Mail me the photos and I will put them online in this thread :TU: mail to: erikboattailmeetingphotos@gmail.com 5 quid a gallon, I reckon that's about massive Imperial gallons instead of wee little American gallons....   One litre of petrol is 1.04 £, so that's 3.785 * 1.04 = 3.93 £ for 1 US gallon 3.93 £ = 7.89 US$ Still cheap compared to our petrol prices p
hey guy's no the car isn't ready for paint yet p I've haven't been working on my car very much this since i was involved in a small accident and have been working on an other car but i won't bore you guys with that since it's finished Ive cleaned the underside of the body even more and off course ive found rust, pinholes a lot of them so decided to replace the floor pan and some more small pieces of the floor of the car Also ive found a (more) decent fender and center console for the car and ive been modifying the motor mounts to make the big 455 go in the chassis ive had the whole thing in the chassis to mock it up and make everything fit in the car here some more pics here are the pics : clean underbody The new parts Stock VS modified frame pads ( came of a 73 riv as well ) theyve been shortend 3/8 to make it all fit
Wheel well repair (still busy on that one) And ive managed to find a re chromed front bumper :eek2: if i could only find a rear one as well well thats about it for now this will be the last update this year i guess so all have a good new year and a lot off (buick) fun :TU: Greetz Lennard
Hey Lennard, I can't believe I am just now seeing this thread for the first time. After picking my jaw up from my desk, I have to say to you - WOW! Your body work is amazing! Do you do this for a living? Please say no because I don't, and I only hope that I can do half as good on the work that I plan to do on my car. You are an inspiration! Best Wishes,
@ ubushaus nope this isn't my daily job just my first restoration type of job, I've had some other experience with some other cars that came along while i had my Buick on the other hand the car is far from being straight as an arrow or anything near it. so by now i know i'm not the body type of guy even though i can weld in decent patch panels and stuff p and i know it will be a pain in the :moonu: to get it straight again also since on panel had damage before and you don't even have to look for buick parts here in holland ( especially 'unwanted' mid 70's cars ) and even if you find them there probably just as rusty uzzled: Greetz Lennard
you are spot on with taking 3/8 out of the frame mounts for the motor.that is the exact measurement to take off of them if you want the motor to sit correctly in your car.most people use the big buick frame mounts and say motor sits right but they are wrong.the frame mounts for a 73-74 century regal are exactly 3/8 lower than the ones for a big buick.great job. ________ Kitchen Measures
i couldn't even fit in in the bay of the chassis right if i didn't cut the mounts (when i put it in the stock holes for the frame pads) and ray i must thank you as well since I've got this info in an older topic in witch you also replied quite often if i'm not mistaking :TU: Greetz Lennard
i had a buddy of mine cut 3/8 out of the mounts because i had the same problem fitting the motor in mine.it sat to high,i have know idea how other guys do it,but this is the correct way.trying to find mounts from a 73-74 regal or century with a 455 is like getting struck by lightning.anyways great job again.i also have a 75 century for parts if your maybe looking for something. ________ Brunette Cam
