If it was close to IL I would have to have it. That thing is pretty cool.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

That's the first one I've ever seen not used for service of some type. Some extremely tall family must have bought it for the headroom.

One of the pics of the interior shows some unusual mounting hardware which might have been used for some type of service. Look at the interior trim of the 'B' pillar and the upper rear door panel near the bottom of the passenger window. Something mounted to these things.

Ambulance or hearse conversion. I just learned this myself. That actually looks pretty cool. Good thing it's over 1000 miles away, that saves me from talking the wife into letting me buy it. I'm not big on ambulance or hearse culture, but this one is nice and ceratinly priced right!

I wonder if those are for some type of sun shade? I had a '92 Buick wagon that had mounts for a wrap around shade. They were different than those, though.

That's a conversion, I guess? And the engine is a later color. ??

It's not far from me,I think I recognize the building in the background.I've had to stop myself from going to look at it because I know I'd bring it home. I just have no practical reason to buy a gas guzzling 2 1/2 ton wagon anymore.....except to flip:grin: But it is cool :Brow:

Can anyone spot what was converted on it? The body is the standard wagon sheet metal. Maybe HD cooling and suspension?

There were a wide range of "conversions" from this company ranging from more typical ambulances and hearses at the top end with serious body and roof modifications to much lesser "conversions" like flower cars and other light "support" vehicles which I suspect this vehicle was. This one was definitely not a heavily modified wagon. The chain of title might provide more answers as to how this wagon was used early in its life. It looks like a good price for the condition and originality.

The roof from the doors back is taller.I'm guessing it has mucho bigger suspension too.
It's also the dual opening tailgate.

That's the factory roof - no modifications in height. And, the dual sliding power "clamshell" tail gate is stock.

X2. I was working at a Buick dealership in the mid 70's. I must have worked on dozens of those cars at Nick Allen Motors in Newport News, Va. Mr. Allen ordered a new wagon for himself every year, and the first thing they all got was a painted roof in a contrasting color.

I noticed the same thing. I recall the blue blocks began with the 75 model year.

Good catch, 74 was the last year for red before Buick went the corporate blue. Engine may have been rebuilt/replaced. Or possibly a very late 74 build that got painted blue???? Would be interesting to know if the thing has a cat (it shouldn't have one).
