I can't seem to figure out how to connect the kickdown to the trans. I took out the trans and took it off at the hole. I can't seem to be able to get it back together. Is there a secret or do i have to remove it at the gas pedal if so how do i take it off at the gas pedal.

    Dave,
The detent cable on a 350 transmission is connected to the case above the pan and at the gas pedal on the other end. At the transmission end, one bolt secures the cable casing. The end of the cable has a flattened end with a hole in it. Protruding from the trans case is a small "S" link. You need to pull the cable out of the casing,a small amount, then thread the "S" link into the hole. Then secure the casing to the trans case. On the other end of the cable is a rod that fits through a hole in the gas pedal(above where the throttle cable connects) The rod has a removable specific compressible clip. Once the rod is through the gas pedal hole, you position the clip by compressing it with a pair of pliers, and position it on the rod, close to where the cable connects. Then floor the gas pedal, and it self adjusts the clip. The detent mechanism should reach full travel at WOT. Hope that helps.
