I understand that suspension is where you can pick up some of the best improvements on launching and accellerating and eliminating tire hop during burnouts but what do I need to do so far the car is basically stock (open diff 2.56 gears) and I want to be able to drive it around town and still stomp on it without standing still and making blue smoke even though it looks cool

what motor do you have in this car? 2:56 & you have traction problems? What happens when it's NOT raining & you punch it around a right hand corner from a stop?:pp just bustin yer chops man:laugh: new bushings in the control arms & those stabalizer braces that came on 4 sp cars help alot:TU:

its a 350 w/ ta intake and a 4bbl qjet and yes when i take off all I do is spin one tire I'll be putting in a posi and some 275 tires instead of 225's to solve that but other than new bushings and no hop bars what kind of tricks will get the power to the ground better stiffer springs shocks air shocks what?

I read a lot of stuff on this site, and we don't spin the tires. Even with the 464 with 576 torque. At the track, my son rolls through the water and spins it off for a second, then stages.

3:42 gears with a posi, bought parts on the board here from monzaz. Rear air bags with 22lbs in right and 5lbs in left. Rear sway bar. standard rear shocks with 90/10's on front. Removed front sway bar. And, the 12.5x28 mickey thompson sportsman pro's on the buick ralleys work well. I also heard the Hoosier quick time pro were good and street legal.
All springs are stock. All control arms are stock, with stock bushings.

    Good luck.

if you guys don't have a traction problem w/ beafed up 455's I guess all I need to do is throw away my 225 rear tires and open diff and I won't have a problem anymore but what about tire hop during burnouts or is this a one tire of fire situation only

Hooking up is the name of the game...

i was in the same spot with a 350, 4brl, headers, open rear and skinny tires.
It the pinion angle that is causing it.
the short answer is "No Hop Bars" a couple people make them.

(You could look into adjustable upper control arms, the may do the same thing and have more adjustability, you might want that later.)
I put a posi in and there were issues, so i replaced the housing, my mistake is i found another 8.2 BOP. Now i need to replace that with a 12 bolt or a 9". (455 going in and will need after market axles at the track)
I'm taking out my $85.00 air bags and putting in Moroso trick rear springs for $110.00. I might put the bags back in and try them. I'd say better money spent on springs.
Hey, you only need one tire! Like ever thing else, tires are important.
You could look for rough asphalt and get her to stop spinning.
the info you collect will be more consistent and more valuable.
Just read all the tech sheet on the bars, springs and bags.

    Good Luck!

With 275s and a locker, you won't be able to spin at all.. Even if you want to..
