72GS350w430 for sale, yeah it still runs!

    4G37K2H102711

    Specs or interesting bits:
    350/350 (430 engine now)
    Power Door Locks
    A/C (inop)
    Buckets and Full Length Console
    Gauges "Instrument Group"
    N-25
    Tilt
    Power Steering
    Power Disk Brakes
    Map Light/Trunk Light "Convenience Group?"
Rear Sway Bar (Broken/removed now) This may indicate the "Rallye Ride Control Package"
Stratomist Blue Paint and White Top and interior - Interior converted to Black.
    3.08 Gearset
Factory "boxed" control arms (Rallye again?)
    Stage1 valve covers

    Whats good about it:
    BB swap already done! Correctly!
Dual exhaust already installed years ago
Runs and drives - could be made an oil burning driver in a Saturday.
    Optioned fairly well
    Fairly complete car!
    Some good parts included!
White interior converted to black (that was in much better shape!)
Large sport wheel - brown! Good horn button.
Front suspension bushings replaced several years ago (not a lot of miles)
    Clear title
An honest seller! I can make a video too for the really interested.
Wont let you buy it sight unseen as there should be no surprises for either of us - additional pic requests?

    What it needs:
    Paint/Body -
Some rust in quarters and patchable area of front right fender.
A good cleaning! The interior hasnt been cleaned in YEARS but its not "nasty".
Drivers fender might need replaced due to crease (result of sideswipe while parked).
Rear bumper needs rechromed the front needs replaced (driver quality replacement goes with car!).
The drivers outer door skin has a crease also and needs replaced.
Trim above windshield has a bent section.
Windshield is cracked and needs replaced.
Drivers floorboard patch was installed so its ok as is for a driver, not ok for perfect resto.
Carpet is usable for a driver and isnt torn BUT has been sun bleached in a few places. By that, I mean less than perfect black - see video!
Needs weatherstrip replaced. Dont they all?
Trunk lock removed but I might have another somewhere.
Wheels could be cleaned up ok for a driver but are not show quality... 15x7 rear, 14's on the front.
Rear tires need replaced - the circle track tires on there now only hold air a few days. lol. <-- not sure what tires I have for it, may have some.
    Package tray/Rear window trim
Console in decent usable condition but needs Mike G's shifter parts to be a driver.

Needs DRIVEN!!! I get this car out sometimes after it sits a year or so. Has never failed to start or be driven soon after. New owner should do what I have not and that is fix it and enjoy it.

    Brakes-
They work! Need gone through though to be a safe reliable driver. Might have a leak as fluid has had to be added.

    Engine/Trans/etc:
Runs and drives but smokes, consumption high on highway but hardly noticeable in town. Engine is a 430 but I cannot recall if the one in the car is a 69 or 67... trans works but needs rebuilt as it will slip under WOT (havent tried THAT in years!). Radiator has a leak that only leaks after parking hot. Doesnt hit 200 or leak while running but rad must be fixed/replaced to make it a driver. Stage1 valvecover bolts are missing if thats a big deal to you. The big one:

**There is a new noise now that I've had it out again. Sounds like a bad bearing or something rubbing... can be made to go away with slight load (cant hear rpm go up but noise goes away). Doesnt occur at idle speeds** It is "new" as it only started two drivings ago (once to move it from storage and the other to get fresh coolant circulated) and is the only reason it couldnt be driven home by its new owner - unless you are real far away. Have not tried to diagnose but it sounds exactly like a driveshaft/exhaust rub (ask me how I come to that comparison!) <-- sounds like pinion noise, drives fine if needing a short test drive

    What I have for parts:
Replacement grill - good to excellent shape!
Front bumper - chrome peeled in a few small places but usable for driver (existing is very good)
YearOne bucket pcs for redoing the stock seats (seatbacks etc). YearOne armrest pads mounted on good black armrests also.
Seatback release buttons - new from YO
One bucket seat foam filler from YO
Rear seat recovered from donor car. Have front material also but have not tried to install... in both cases its black with black cloth inserts.
    Foam pads for aircleaner
'73 455 (XF) engine but does not have oil pan or anything above intake - partially disassembled.
'72 350 intake to pan - original? likely! Never proved it tho. Spun bearing, ran when pulled.
Misc brackets/pulleys/bolts/stock valvecovers and ?? Gaskets? I have a pile of crap not gone thru.
Front bumper strip pulled from a car years ago - not perfect but usable. Need to verify I still have.
T/A performance alum valvecovers BLACK finish. Never installed.
You even get the engine stands the 455 AND the 350 are on. One is VERY heavy duty.
    Universal TH350 but no converter
Stock crank bearing set but no rear main
Timing set, BUT no chain! lol.

    Pics for the interested:
    http://www.gwtra.org/images/shawn_gs/1972_gs.htm -I have newer/better pics from 11/03 if intersted.
http://www.gwtra.org/images/455project/455_Project.html -455 block, every pic/link actually does work.
http://www.gwtra.org/images/72gs4sale/72gs4sale.html <-updated pics after first post of ad!

What you see is how it is with years of
dirt/grime... I hosed the outside off a few months ago.

Having not done anything really with it for years its certainly possible I have forgotten something so dont be afraid to ask!

If you see something it needs dont assume I dont have it just because I dont know how to write an add. Im asking see below but will entertain offers...

    Needs part2:
Wipers work but blades are toast... only runs at one speed and no washer pump.

Not sure what leaks it has so you may assume it has some but this has never preventing short trips in town (all Ive done for a few years now when driven).

Lowbeam drivers light is out... all highbeams ok so its likely just a bulb.

    Have part2:
Some of the under dash duct work has been removed - forgot about that (and I didnt do it) but I have some of the parts!

I think I have a set of rockershafts but will confirm this next week and get pics of grill and other stuff.

I kinda figured that I would have come to a decision sooner but things got away from me and then I had to go off and get married. heh. Then I changed my mind on selling... now I changed it again.

SO, this is an update post. The car is still be for sale if anyone is interested. Getting married kinda put a crunch on finances... imagine that! Otherwise, if I weather the money situation I'll still plan to restore it someday as I'll have no reason to sell. It spent a short time outside, then under a carport and is now stored indoors so some pressure is off.

Anyway, the odd noise is something in the rear. My guess is carrier bearing, Im almost sure of it. The shifter issue is just the chrome piece being broken. Shifter works but its annoying.

If you look at whats listed and see the pics you can see there are a lot of extra decent pieces. extra block, grill, , 350 I pulled, extra trans, blahblahblah. Video makes the car sound bad but it doesnt really.

Location depending, I might be able to deliver or meet part way for a buyer.

    I was just reminded:

I put in a patch panel under the drivers feet about 10-13 years ago. I'll try to take a look at it from underneath and snap a pic soon.

The noise in rear will not stop ME from driving it a short ways so depending on where you are a trailer may not be required, but certainly a safe option!

Wow. Here I am full circle again.

Asking $2200 for the car, all the parts, two engines, and two engine stands. Its been appraised at $1950 without any of the parts or extras.

This link (same as above) has a vid clip on page 1, and extra pics on bottom of page 2 --- Misc Pics and Vid ____ Better shot of engine stands

Maybe I made the car sound "bad". dunno. Just didnt want any surprises for anyone.

Pehaps someone just wants the car? I could sell the interior stuff, the original seats, blahblah seperate?

It would only take a weekend to make this car a driver and likely only a day for an interior shop to put on the never used YearOne seatparts with the cloth inserted material (to match the rear). See the video? The interior could be a pretty decent driver for not a lot of money as I have many of the major pcs needed. Did I mention I have the black armrests with YO pads put on?

Im moving folks (overseas) cant take the car with me! I need to see some offers soon!

how long of a days ride?
    8 hrs?
what kind of help can you give with the transport?
    thanks andy

8 hours isnt quite enough... Im thinking WITH trailer its closer to 11-13. Maybe 13-14 if I had to go through the city.

As for transport, I would put that sucker on a trailer with the parts and haul it up if you needed. For free? Probably not so you better lowball me to compensate ;) (dont please).

Hey Shaun, I would love to have the car! Only problem is I live in South Carolina (about 1200 miles away). If we can get together on it maybe we can meet halfway. Call me or PM me your # and we can discuss the details. Thanks, Tim Hall :Comp:
